As we near the end of 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, with this year’s theme from the 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔, “𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐨𝐠 𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧, 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐧,” we are reminded that history is more than a collection of dates, names, and events recorded in textbooks.

In celebration of this month-long commemoration, the 𝑰𝒏 𝑵𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝑬𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝑪𝒍𝒖𝒃 presents the first feature of 🔎 𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐬 🔍, INGLES Club's educational series. For this inaugural feature, we bring to life “𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬.” Through a series of illustrations inspired by literary works of prominent Filipino authors, we revisit defining moments in our history as they are imagined, narrated, and experienced through the pages of Philippine literature.

By remembering our past, we gain a deeper understanding of who we are and a greater responsibility to help build the Philippines we aspire to see. As 𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐬 and 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬.

This 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, the 𝗜𝗻 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 joins in honoring the men and women of our nation, whose courage, sacrifice, and devotion to the Philippines helped shape the society we inherit today. Their lives remind us that the freedom and identity we cherish were built through acts of service that demanded courage, conviction, and love for the country.

Mula sa mga rebolusyonaryo na nakipaglaban para sa ating kasarinlan, hanggang sa mga Filipino na nagbigay ng kanilang serbisyo para sa mga komunidad sa panahon ng unos, pinatunayan nila na ang pagmamahal para sa ating Inang Bayan ay hindi lamang naipapakita sa gawa, kundi sa pagiging handa ring magsakripisyo kung kinakailangan.

As future educators and nation-builders, we shall carry their legacy beyond the pages of history. May we remember their stories, uphold the values they stood for, and inspire the next generation to serve with the same courage and sense of purpose.

Students with physical UMak IDs may use the facial recognition device and RFID readers available at designated entry areas for a faster entry experience.

Meanwhile, those who have not yet claimed their physical ID are advised to proceed to the Center for Information Technology (CIT) as soon as possible, while those who lost their ID must prepare a notarized Affidavit of Loss before coordinating with CIT for an ID-capturing schedule.

The University of Makati is continuously working to make the entry process as smooth and convenient as possible for everyone, while ensuring that heightened security measures remain strictly in place for the safety and well-being of every member of the UMak community.

Today, the 𝗜𝗻 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 joyfully celebrates the birthday of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐥𝐩𝐡 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐚, our former 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 (A.Y. 2024–2025) and former 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 (A.Y. 2025–2026).

From serving behind the scenes as part of the Purchasing Committee to eventually taking the helm as President, Ralph's journey in INGLES was one marked by 𝐝𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, and a 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞. Each role became a chapter in his story with the organization, showing how commitment can grow into something greater when paired with purpose.

Today, 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, we commemorate the death anniversary of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., honoring his 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 and 𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 in the pursuit of 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 and 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 for the Filipino people.
