NEWS | 𝗖𝗛𝗖’𝘀 𝗣𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗨𝗽 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻 C𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆

October 10, 2026—the Department of Psychology commenced the Light Up Blue, celebrated yearly across the nation, spearheaded by the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) for World Mental Health Day, recognized globally by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The event took place at the ASEAN Promenade, with Dean Diane Cherie Velecina, Dean of the College of Health Care, encouraging everyone to break the stigma on mental health, emphasizing that everyone is heard, seen, and valued.

It was then followed by the writing of encouraging messages for the Blue Box of Hope, accompanied by the light-up proper jamming to song covers by The FAITH Colleges Instrumentalist.

The event’s project head, Ron Torres, shared that leading this year’s Light Up Blue gave him the realization that there are people out there who carry something heavy throughout their days, and they do it in silence, hence still give out a smile.

Torres also shared that this event isn’t only about lighting up blue lights around the campus. “It’s about lighting up the dark. It’s about showing people they don’t carry heavy things alone. Their thoughts and feelings matter.” Torres shared.

Rhaze Amutan, a 2nd-year student, also shared how the Light Up Blue event can help raise awareness and support within the community.

“The inclusiveness is a great way to create a safe space for everyone and break the stigma around mental health for the community and make people feel empowered and accepted,” Amutan shared.

The event serves as a reminder to everyone of the importance of prioritizing theirselves in the middle of hardships, and becoming the light to those in need.

The Day 2 of our 26th Foundation Anniversary featured the SOH Fair, kicking off with an inspirational talk on “𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲” and wrapping up with high-stakes fun at the SOH Fair Games! 🎰
