Carl Aeron Rodriguez Gallardo ranks 2nd in the April 2026 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination (REELE), earning an impressive rating of 93.70%.

Moreover, TSU’s first-time takers in the REELE posted a 77.32% passing rate, contributing to an overall institutional passing rate of 70.64%, surpassing the national passing rate of 57.49%.

Meanwhile, first-time takers in the April 2026 Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination (RMELE) achieved a 100% passing rate. The institutional passing rate stood at 20%, compared to the national passing rate of 55.90%.

The Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) officially turned over the project plans to the Department of Public Works and Highways – Tarlac (DPWH – Tarlac) in Parsolingan, Gerona, Tarlac, on March 30, 2026. This extension activity was led by the department head, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗜. 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘀, together with 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝘇𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗟𝘂𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. The formal submission of these technical documents marked the completion of a collaborative effort to solve local scouring issues through academic and professional expertise.

This extension project analyzed the scouring patterns at Pier 5 of the Agana Bridge and tested how a proposed groundsill structure could reduce erosion. The study aimed to provide the DPWH with data-driven insights to improve bridge maintenance and structural resilience. By evaluating the effectiveness of the engineering intervention, the project provided engineers with the essential information needed to make better decisions for future bridge rehabilitation and protection.

𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐉𝐫. — conducted an onsite visit to FS2 Tailoring and JJJ Engineering on March 12, 2026. Located in Brgy. Aguso, Tarlac City, these enterprises are owned by 𝐌𝐬. 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐬 and 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐬

FS2 Tailoring specializes in garment services, including T-shirt printing and sublimation. A primary byproduct of their production is fabric scraps, or retaso. Seeking a sustainable solution for this waste, JJJ Engineering—which specializes in solar energy and masonry—proposes integrating these fabric trimmings into their hollow block manufacturing process.

This initiative aims to explore the feasibility of creating a lightweight, durable, and eco-friendly construction material.
This extension activity concluded with a productive discussion on the technical parameters required to move this innovative waste-to-resource project into the testing phase.

Dr. Cristobal, currently serving as Regional Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region III, was selected for her extensive qualifications and proven competence in academic governance. In its commitment to providing continuous technical assistance for Rehoboth Children’s Home Inc. (RCHI), the Departments of Civil, Electrical, and Electronics Engineering conducted a series of site inspections and data gathering activities on February 19, February 27, and March 12 at RCHI in Sta. Maria, Camiling, Tarlac.

The Civil Engineering team, led by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝘇𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻, including 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗝𝗮𝗻 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗥𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘆𝘂𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗢𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝗰𝗼. Their efforts will focus on the structural design of the RCHI Main Building's roof.

Meanwhile, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department—spearheaded by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼 and supported 𝗯𝘆 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝗼, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝘇 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗖𝗶𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗽𝘂𝘇—will handle the design and installation of a basic hydroponics system for the RCHI garden. The initiative was supported by the College Extension Department Head (CEDH), 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘇 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗼, who participated in the inspections and planning sessions.

These preliminary activities will serve as the foundation for the final design and technical implementation phase. Through this ongoing collaboration, the College of Engineering continues to extend its expertise to ensure the structural safety and sustainability of RCHI’s facilities.

𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗱—officially completed the extension project for the San Jose Creek in Gerona, Tarlac. On January 23, 2026, the team successfully turned over the design and structural analysis to the Municipal Government, formally received by the Municipal Engineer, Engr. Teodoro Cabanes.

This extension project entailed the development of a flood-resilient creek and bridge infrastructure tailored for the community of Barangay San Jose in Gerona, Tarlac. This area was identified through needs assessment as highly susceptible to seasonal flooding.

The identified vulnerabilities—particularly the inadequate capacity of the existing creek and the obsolete bridge structure—adversely impacted residents, farmers, and daily commuters, resulting in property damage, agricultural losses, and restricted mobility. The scope of the project included site reconnaissance, watershed delineation using QGIS, hydrologic and hydraulic simulation utilizing HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS, and the design of reinforced concrete channels and a structurally optimized bridge. These were developed in accordance with the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) 2015 and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) standards. The approach adopted a simulation-based methodology that integrated both hydrologic and hydrodynamic analyses to ensure infrastructure resilience under various flood return periods.

In partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform – Tarlac (DAR-Tarlac), the College of Engineering (COE) conducted an initial site inspection and meeting at Brgy. Matarannoc, San Manuel, Tarlac, on January 21, 2026. This collaboration aims to assist the PAGBIAGAN Multi-Purpose Cooperative in designing a cGMP-compliant food processing facility from a greenfield site. The project focuses on ensuring the facility meets FDA–LTO requirements and achieves operational readiness through integrated engineering planning.

Through the valuable assistance of Mr. Eulogio Cabiles, Chairperson of the Cooperative, and Ms. Jailynn Dimalanta, OIC of DAR-CARPO, the team successfully gathered and analyzed the necessary beneficiary information to fulfill the project's goals and objectives.

Under the leadership of the College Extension Department Head (CEDH), 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝘇 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝗼, the initiative involved a collaborative effort from various departments, including Industrial Engineering Department Head, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘇 and faculty members 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. To ensure the structural compliance of the pedestrian bridge for the proposed recreational park improvement in Victoria, Tarlac, the Department of Civil Engineering (DCE) successfully finalized and turned over the design plans on January 9, 2026, led by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. The Improvement of Recreational Park project seeks to rehabilitate and upgrade the existing public park to provide a safe, inclusive, and sustainable space for leisure, wellness, and community interaction. This project aims to revitalize the area by continually enhancing its infrastructure, landscaping, and accessibility while promoting environmental sustainability and public safety.

Furthermore, it supports the Provincial Government’s goal of fostering public health, tourism, and social development through the creation of well-designed, people-centered public spaces. The initiative is designed to modernize park facilities, improve green spaces, and ensure accessibility for all users, including persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and children. By encouraging outdoor recreation and physical activities, the project will strengthen community engagement and provide a suitable venue for cultural and social events. Ultimately, by integrating eco-friendly designs and robust maintenance systems, the project will not only improve the park’s functionality and aesthetic appeal but also contribute to the province’s long-term vision of creating livable, resilient, and environmentally responsible communities.

Under the leadership of 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝗼 𝗣𝗶𝗮𝗼, with technical assistance from 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘇, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗘𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗼, and MSEE graduate students, site inspection and electrical load profiling were conducted at Tarlac Bible Community Ministries (TBCM) Inc. on January 10, 2025, located in Brgy. San Jose, Tarlac City.

This extension project aims to provide a sustainable and cost-effective energy solution through the utilization of renewable solar energy. By integrating a grid-tied solar PV system, the project will reduce electricity expenses, improve energy efficiency, and promote environmental stewardship within the local community. This initiative also serves as a practical application of engineering expertise from the College of Engineering—particularly the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering Program—providing technical assistance while promoting the adoption of clean energy technologies in support of national and global sustainability goals.

To assist Barangay Ungot, Tarlac City, in developing a complete, accurate, and ARTA-compliant Citizen’s Charter (pursuant to ARTA MC 2019-002A), the Industrial Engineering (IE) Department and the Quality Management Unit – Anti-Red Tape Unit (QMU-ARTA) conducted an initial presentation and consultation on January 9, 2026. This initiative aims to streamline frontline services by clearly outlining process steps, timelines, requirements, and responsible personnel. The extension activity was spearheaded by Project Coordinator, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, along with IE experts 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 𝗦. 𝗟𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘇, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗮, and 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗠𝗮. 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇, with technical assistance from 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗝𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗭𝘆𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮of the QMU – ARTA.

Through technical assistance, capacity-building workshops, and collaborative documentation sessions, the project team will guide barangay officials and staff in mapping their processes, drafting service flowcharts, establishing service commitment standards, and designing a user-friendly Citizen’s Charter for public posting.

By the end of the project, Barangay Ungot will have a validated, printed, and digital Citizen’s Charter, empowering residents with accessible information about their rights and the services available to them, thereby promoting transparency, accountability, and improved local governance.
