TSU Strengthens Environmental Stewardship and Campus Safety: October 21, 2025 Seminars

On October 21, 2025, Tarlac State University conducted two capacity-building seminars aimed at reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, preparedness, and institutional compliance:

Morning Session: A Solid Waste Management Seminar was held for representatives of offices and colleges, featuring a resource speaker from the DENR–Environmental Management Bureau (EMB). The session focused on proper waste segregation, regulatory compliance, and the role of each unit in advancing TSU’s environmental goals.

Afternoon Session: Student leaders and campus organizations participated in the Environmental and Safety Seminar, led by experts in Pollution Control and Occupational Safety. Discussions centered on university-wide policies for environmental protection, emergency preparedness, and safety protocols, empowering student sectors to take active roles in campus resilience.

These initiatives reflect TSU’s proactive approach to fostering a culture of accountability, sustainability, and safety across all sectors of the university.

In light of the recent earthquakes affecting various regions of the Philippines, and in strict adherence to TSU-PCS-GL 05 Emergency Response Guidelines, this advisory serves as a formal reiteration of institutional earthquake safety protocols. All campus constituents are reminded to remain vigilant, composed, and compliant with the following procedures during seismic occurrences.

These can also be practiced in our own homes and communities, so please share these measures to everyone you know.

Please be informed that due to ongoing drainage construction, the Pedestrian Entrance Gate will be temporarily closed. During this period, the Pedestrian Exit Gate will function as a dual-purpose access point, serving both entry and exit for all foot traffic.

This temporary adjustment is implemented to ensure the safety and convenience of students, employees, and visitors while construction activities are underway. Once the area is cleared and construction is completed, the Pedestrian Entrance Gate will resume its regular operations.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Kindly refer to the attached figures for guidance.

Let’s Make Every Drop Count 💧

Our campus thrives when each of us does our part. Small actions—when done collectively—create a big, positive impact.
To conserve water more effectively:
- ✅ Turn off faucets completely after use
- 🛠️ Report leaks immediately
- 💡 Use water wisely and responsibly

Together, we can protect this vital resource and build a more sustainable, environmentally friendly university for generations to come.

Stray animal-related incidents—particularly scratches and bites from dogs and cats—remain one of the most frequent safety concerns within our university. These incidents often stem from individuals petting or feeding stray animals on campus.

In light of these recurring cases, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (DRRMC) enforces and reiterates the provisions outlined in TSU-DRR-No. 008-22, dated March 09, 2023, titled "Guidelines for Animal Control in the University." These measures aim to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of the TSU community.

Let us stay informed, act responsibly, and work together to reduce these risks across our campus.

Let’s Keep Our Waterways Flowing Freely

Improper waste disposal—especially plastics and other non-biodegradable materials—often clogs canals, drains, and waterways. When these systems are blocked, rainwater cannot flow freely, leading to urban flooding and environmental degradation.

By simply reducing waste and sorting it into recyclable, biodegradable, and residual categories, we can significantly lessen these risks. This small act of responsibility not only protects our communities from flooding but also promotes a cleaner, healthier environment.

Every small effort counts.
Let’s show how TSUians are stepping up—proving that even simple actions, done together, can create meaningful change.
