Following a highly successful benchmarking activity and a landmark Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing, Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) officially sealed its partnership with the Municipality of San Manuel, Tarlac.

And nothing celebrates a brand-new collaboration quite like rolling up your sleeves, stepping into the fields, and filling up baskets with fresh grown produce here at DRD Fields! 🥬🥕🌶️

A delegation from San Manuel, Tarlac, led by the dynamic 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐃𝐨ñ𝐚 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐑. 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐨, visited TAU-DRD Harvest Happiness together with San Manuel Farmers Club, Municipal Agriculture Office and staff for a free vegetable-picking experience.
Joining them in the fields were the TAU Administrative Council members, who bring their own Eco bags and scissors to enjoy picking fresh vegetables.

This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting journey between TAU and San Manuel, Tarlac. Through joint research, agricultural extension programs, and continuous knowledge-sharing, both institutions are committed to empowering local farmers and advancing sustainable agriculture across the province.

Imagine walking into campus and leaving with a basket full of fresh, naturally grown fruits and vegetables - completely free!
That exact scenario came to life at Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) as the Department of Research and Development (DRD) officially launched again its passion project: Harvest Happiness.

🍓 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬?
It’s more than just a free produce giveaway! Harvest Happiness is a student - and community - first initiative designed to provide fresh, naturally grown produce to TAU students, employees, and campus visitors.
Beyond filling plates, this DRD initiative aims to:
-𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠: Highlighting eco-friendly, mixed-input agricultural techniques developed right on campus.
-𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: Giving easy access to fresh nutrition to keep their minds and bodies fueled.
-𝐅𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭: Bringing everyone together to celebrate the literal fruits of TAU’s research and hard work.

Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), through the TAU-Research Ethics Office (REO) and in collaboration with the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB), successfully concluded its intensive two-day online seminar on Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET), held via Zoom on July 16–17, 2026.

The virtual training was designed to empower and upskill the university’s institutional Research Ethics Committee, the virtual training was attended by nearly 35 professionals from TAU, including REO members and the REO Chief, led by Engr. Chelsie Pagatpatan. This initiative marks a critical milestone in TAU’s ongoing mission to cultivate a community of researchers who serve as fierce advocates for both scientifically robust and ethically sound scholarly work.

The first day of the program focused heavily on the theoretical and historical foundations of research ethics. Participants reviewed pivotal historical milestones, ranging from the lessons of the Nuremberg Trials to modern ethical timelines, illustrating why strict institutional oversight remains paramount. Transitioning from theory to practice, Day 2 shifted the focus toward governance, operational regulations, and the mechanics of conducting professional ethics reviews. To apply these complex concepts, trainees were divided into four groups based on their respective areas of specialization. Plenary discussions and breakout sessions were then utilized to give participants hands-on experience in critically evaluating the ethical soundness of actual research protocols.

Through this blend of rigorous lectures and interactive workshops guided by PHREB's expert Dr. Angelica D. Francisco and Prof. Fatima A. Castillo, the university's ethics committee members successfully mastered several core competencies. Trainees emerged from the program fully equipped to evaluate complex research protocols, explain national research governance frameworks, and confidently navigate both local and national ethics systems.

As TAU continues to expand its footprint in international indexing and high-impact regional research, the institutionalization of these ethical frameworks ensures that the university’s scientific advancements are matched by an unwavering commitment to human rights, participant safety, and academic truth.
