From Tarlac to the heart of Manila, the movement continues.

The Tarlac State University Contemporary Dance Team brought the University’s artistry to the 4th Manila International Dance Festival (MIDFest), held from September 25 to 27, 2026, across different heritage and cultural venues in Manila.

As one of the invited participating groups, the TSU Contemporary Dance Team joined dance companies, performers, and artists from the Philippines and beyond in a three-day celebration where movement became a language for creativity, culture, and connection.

More than a performance opportunity, MIDFest became a space for the dancers to encounter new artistic perspectives, exchange ideas with fellow performers, participate in learning opportunities, and connect with a broader dance community.

Behind the troupe’s performance is the dedication and guidance of Coach Mr. Daniel Dizon, whose efforts in training, rehearsing, and mentoring the dancers helped bring their performance to life.

The troupe also acknowledges the support and leadership of OCAL Director Prof. Augusto N. Lulu Jr., whose continued commitment to the university’s cultural and artistic endeavors helps provide opportunities for TSU’s student artists to perform and represent the university.

With every movement, pause, and gesture, the team carried with them the spirit of Tarlac State University—bringing its contemporary artistry beyond the campus and into a wider cultural stage.

Through dance, TSU continues to move, connect, and make its presence felt.

Tarlac State University’s Salab Banua Dance Troupe represented the University at the 4th Manila International Dance Festival (MIDFest), held from September 25 to 27, 2026, in various cultural and heritage venues in Manila.

As one of the invited participating groups, Salab Banua brought TSU’s cultural presence to a gathering that celebrated the diversity of dance and the different traditions embodied through movement.

The festival provided the troupe with an avenue to share Filipino cultural expression while engaging with other dance groups and artists from different communities. Its participation also contributed to the broader exchange of cultural practices and artistic experiences that form part of the three-day festival.

The performance reflects the dancers’ discipline, dedication, and countless hours of preparation under the guidance of Coach Mr. Jefferson Ruz, whose commitment and mentorship helped the troupe deliver a performance rooted in Filipino culture and tradition.

The troupe also extends its appreciation to OCAL Director Prof. Augusto N. Lulu Jr. for his continued support of TSU’s cultural and artistic programs and for helping create opportunities for the university’s performing artists to share their talents and heritage.

Through Salab Banua, TSU continued to take part in platforms that provide spaces for cultural representation and the appreciation of Philippine dance traditions, bringing the University’s artistic community beyond the campus and into a wider audience.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐒𝐔 𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐀 𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐋𝐄

The Office of Culture, the Arts, and Languages (OCAL) took an initial step toward establishing the Tarlac State University Rondalla Ensemble following the delivery of new musical instruments for the group.

OCAL Director Prof. Augusto N. Lulu, Jr. and University Rondalla Ensemble Coach Mr. Gideon Cabulera inspected the newly delivered instruments, which include bandurrias, classical guitars, octavinas, lauds, and a beat box.

The arrival of the instruments signals the start of the ensemble’s preparations, providing the group with the resources needed as it begins rehearsals and works toward its upcoming performances.

The Rondalla Ensemble is set to make its debut in future TSU events, adding another musical group to the University’s growing roster of cultural ensembles under OCAL. The initiative also reflects the University’s continuing efforts to promote and provide opportunities for the appreciation of Philippine musical traditions.

𝗖𝗔𝗙𝗔, 𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝘂𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

The College of Architecture and Fine Arts (CAFA) and the Office of Culture, the Arts, and Languages (OCAL) met with visual artist Anabel Pangalangan on September 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Museo Archivo to discuss the initial preparations for the upcoming exhibition of her works, “Kuwento ng Lapis.”

The meeting brought together Pangalangan, the artist behind the exhibition; CAFA Dean Garry Advento; Fine Arts Department Chairperson Mr. Edno Joson; Fine Arts faculty member Mr. Jessie Tadeo, Jr.; and OCAL, headed by Director Prof. Augusto N. Lulu, Jr.

At the center of the discussion was the proposed presentation of “Kuwento ng Lapis” at Tarlac State University, with CAFA taking the lead in organizing the exhibition and OCAL serving as its partner in the initiative.

Pangalangan, a former TSU student, expressed her desire to bring her artworks to her alma mater so that TSU students could have the opportunity to see and engage with her work. The exhibition is envisioned as an avenue for students, particularly those pursuing the arts, to encounter the works of a fellow TSU alumna and gain inspiration from her artistic journey.

The initial schedule sets October 14 as the target date for the opening of the exhibition, which will also feature an art talk with Pangalangan. The activity is expected to provide students and members of the university community an opportunity to learn more about her works, creative process, and experiences as an artist.

With CAFA leading the exhibition and OCAL providing support as a partner, the initiative highlights the university’s continuing efforts to create opportunities for students to experience, appreciate, and engage with visual arts within the campus community.

𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟, 𝗦𝗦𝗖 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗿. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝘀. 𝗧𝗦𝗨 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The Office of Culture, the Arts, and Languages (OCAL) and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) convened on September 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the OCAL Office for a meeting focused on the initial preparations and alignment of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for Mr. and Ms. TSU 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from the SSC, headed by SSC President Jazzmine Faye Samson and SSC Adviser Dr. Dexter Manzano, along with OCAL, led by Director Prof. Augusto N. Lulu, Jr., and the University coaches for the pageant.

Discussions centered on aligning the proposed guidelines, mechanics, and criteria for Mr. and Ms. TSU 2026 with the standards and requirements set for the CAASUC III Regional Culture and the Arts Festival (RCAF) 2026. The meeting also provided an avenue to discuss initial preparations for the University’s pageant and the selection of representatives who will eventually take part in the regional competition.

Through the collaboration of OCAL, SSC, and the University coaches, the meeting marked an initial step toward establishing a clear, coordinated, and comprehensive framework for Mr. and Ms. TSU 2026.

All bonafide students of Tarlac State University, regardless of program or year level, are welcome to audition.

• Can sing
• Can act
• Can dance or are willing to learn
• Can play musical instruments (an advantage, but not required)
• Are willing to explore different roles and characters in acting
• Are creative and, preferably, have an interest in story writing or developing stories
• Are teachable, humble, respectful, and willing to work with a team
• Are ready to commit to rigorous and continuous training and rehearsals
• Are willing to represent TSU and compete at another university for the duration required by the competition
• Most importantly, are passionate about performing and willing to give their best for TSU

You do not have to be perfect. What matters is your potential, dedication, willingness to learn, and love for the performing arts.

In 𝗖𝗔𝗔𝗦𝗨𝗖 𝗜𝗜𝗜 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, our university was named 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡 in the 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆 – 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 category—a theatrical performance that tells a meaningful story through a brief but impactful scripted dialogue.
