Bilang isang organisasyong patuloy na naninindigan para sa karapatan, kapakanan, at kapaki-pakinabang na mga oportunidad para sa mga solo parent students at dependents ng solo parent sa ating unibersidad, buong-puso kaming nakikiisa sa adhikaing dala ng 𝑨𝑳𝑶𝑵 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 para sa darating na SSC 2026–2027 Elections.

Ibinahagi nila ang kanilang pagiging bukas at handang makinig sa boses ng mga mag-aaral na nagbabalanse ng kanilang tungkulin bilang magulang at estudyante. Malinaw na sumasalamin ang kanilang mga plataporma sa sarili nating mga mithiin ukol sa pangkalahatang kabutihan, mental health support, at akademikong konsiderasyon para sa mga solo parents sa unibersidad.

Sa pagtatagpo ng ating adbokasiya para sa kapakanan ng mga solo parent students at ng mga layunin ng 𝑨𝑳𝑶𝑵 na maglingkod nang tapat, nakikita natin ang isang pamunuang may malalim na malasakit, matibay na prinsipyo, at pag-unawa sa aming natatanging laban. Isang pamunuan na handang maging boses ng mga sektor na madalas ay hindi napapakinggan at maging tulay para sa isang mas makatao at patas na sistema.

Kaya naman, ang Solo Parent Organization ay inaanyayahan ang bawat isa na kilalanin ang mga plataporma ng 𝑨𝑳𝑶𝑵. Suportahan natin ang mga lider na handang makinig, matuto, at magpatupad ng mga inklusibong programa para sa bawat TSUian—dahil sa isang unibersidad na inklusibo, walang magulang o mag-aaral ang maiiwan.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | TSU moves toward deaf-ready campus, launches 3-day Filipino Sign Language training

Strengthening its commitment to inclusive education, Tarlac State University (TSU) officially began its three-day university-wide capacity-building training to promote Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and improve accessibility for the deaf community at the University Hotel, Lucinda Campus, February 18.

Spearheaded by the TSU International, Differently-abled, Indigenous, and Marginalized Student Services (TSU-IDIMSS) and in partnership with the Kakamay Movement Organization, the training will run until February 20, focusing on applied functional FSL centered on academic and administrative transactions.

Themed “Breaking Barriers, Building Access: Toward a Deaf-Ready University,” the training specifically aims to promote deaf inclusivity inside the university, address communication gaps, and fuel participants with practical FSL skills.

Speaking during the opening program, Dr. Jasper Jay N. Mendoza, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), underscored the significance of the initiative as more than a skills-based training, describing it as a step towards building a culture of understanding and accessibility within the university.

“Hands are not mere instruments of gestures. Hands can reach divides, hands can shatter barriers, and hands can build roads where none existed before,” he said.

Mendoza also noted that the collaboration reflects TSU’s broader mission to embed inclusivity into its academic and social frameworks.

“This partnership reflects our shared vision for inclusivity, innovation, and social responsibility—a synergy that will open doors for students and stakeholders to learn, lead, and make a difference,” he added.

Kakamay Movement Organization Founder General Gabinera Palma, on the other hand, expressed his excitement in witnessing the result of the training after seeing the strong participation from the university, saying that genuine inclusion begins when institutions are willing to both speak and listen using the language of the deaf.

“After the program, I expect them to start communicating with the deaf people. That is the main goal. When I say communicate, it’s to speak and to listen. So, we can start breaking the barriers and start opening the doors for education,” Palma shared in an interview with the TSU Office of Public Affairs.

Palma also described the partnership as a way of giving back to the local community by ensuring that educational institutions take an active role in uplifting deaf individuals through access and understanding.

The training finally took place this month after TSU and the Kakamay Movement Organization signed a memorandum of agreement last year, December 2, 2025, which covers a series of free FSL training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs designed to strengthen deaf support systems across the university.

Beyond the campus, the Kakamay Movement Organization continues to expand its advocacy nationwide, including recent partnerships with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the University of the Philippines Resilience Institute (UPRI).

Solo Parents, Hindi kayo Solo-Flight; Kaagapay niyo ang DSWD

Solo Parents naman ang ating pokus!

Mula sa Solo Parents Act of 2000, mas pinalawak ang depinisyon, karapatan at benipisyo ng isang solo parent sa pamamagitan ng naisabatas na EXPANDED SOLO PARENTS ACT of 2022.

Nauunawaan ng DSWD ang sitwasyon ng isang magulang o guardian na mag-isang nagtataguyod para buhayin at palakihin ang isang bata lalo na para sa mga pamilyang mistulang isang kahig, isang tuka.

Kaya naman prayoridad ang mga magigiting na solo parents, kasama ang mga bata/dependents na kanilang inaalagaan, sa mga programa at serbisyo ng Kagawaran.

Basahing mabuti ang kalakip na impormasyon para malaman ang inyong mga karapatan at kung paano matatamasa ang mga ito nang lubusan.

Last 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟐, the 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 was held at 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐜 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, led by the 𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐒𝐒 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 and 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐏. The event marked the beginning of a meaningful celebration honoring the 𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 of our Indigenous Peoples.

One of the highlights of the program was the 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐲𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐠-𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐬𝐢 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 called 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐨—a sacred expression of 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to their Creator, ancestors, and the natural world.

At the heart of this prayer is fire, an integral element that holds deep spiritual meaning. For the Ayta Mag-antsi, fire is more than a flame—it is 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲. It reflects 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, a sacred bond that ties them to their ancestors and to the Creator. Fire carries their 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐬, serving as a 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. It is 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧—a reminder of life itself, of their deep relationship with nature, and of the unbroken link to the spirits of those who came before them.
