The podium is once again set for the 12th Wenceslao De La Paz Moot Court Competition, with the 1st and 2nd preliminary rounds held on August 30, 2026, at the University of San Agustin, Rada Hall.

The participating teams of first year and second year USA law students engaged in a series of oral advocacy, argument, and legal reasoning to articulate and defend their positions before a panel of judges in a case concerning the Diver’s Pass. Each round tested their mastery of the law and their ability to translate principles into advocacy.

As Round 3 approaches on September 20, the courtroom awaits once more. With compelling arguments, challenging questions from the bench, and the championship within reach, the stakes grow higher, and anticipation builds.
Well-deserved congratulations to all the participating teams for demonstrating preparation and determination.

WDLPMCC SPOTLIGHT ✨

Next on our WDLPMCC Spotlight is Atty. John Marti Maghopoy, a WDLPMCC alumnus who has carried his experience in advocacy into both legal practice and the classroom.

He is the co-founder of Matiling & Maghopoy Law Office, where his practice covers labor and employment, business, immigration, and real estate matters. He also gives back to the next generation of aspiring lawyers as a part-time faculty member of the University of San Agustin College of Law.
From the moot court competition floor to legal practice and the academe, Atty. Maghopoy's journey reflects how the skills developed through moot court can extend well beyond law school.

12TH WDLPMCC SPOTLIGHT ✨

First on our WDLP-MCC Spotlight is Cianen Kei Ang-Lee, a WDLPMCC alumna and third-year law student whose moot court journey continues beyond the Wences.

From being named Best Oralist during the 11th WDLPMCC to becoming a member of the Bulahan Jessup Team, she went on to represent the University on the international stage at the 2026 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition International Rounds.

For Cianen, the Wences was more than a competition—it was a starting point for taking on bigger stages, stronger arguments, and new challenges in advocacy.

Kind reminder to all Teams to submit their memorials following the provided instructions to the Team Representatives.

Congratulations to all Participating Teams who have poured countless hours of hard work, dedication, and care in crafting and refining your arguments.

We eagerly await to be persuaded by your submissions, and are excited to witness the application of your research, legal reasoning, and advocacy.

As we move on to preparing for the oral rounds, we wish all Teams the best of luck as they now prepare themselves for the podium.

THE STAGE IS SET FOR THE MOCK ORAL ROUNDS🎙️🔥

Following the successful 12th Wenceslao De La Paz Moot Court Competition Lecture Series, which featured discussions on memorial writing, oral advocacy, and speech writing, we now move on to the Mock Oral Rounds Presentation Series.

From August 27 to September 19, The Parliament will feature the Bulahan Teams of 2026, giving students the opportunity to witness their moot court performance and advocacy firsthand.

Opening the series is the 2026 Stetson Bulahan Team, which earned a Quarterfinalist finish in this year's competition. Taking part in the presentation are Mr. Andry Pagsuguiron, who was recognized as 5th Best Oralist, and Mr. Lester John Carnaje as co-agent, together with Ms. Gabrielle Yncong and Mr. Michael Tagudina as panelists.

📢 ANNOUNCEMENT — EXTENSION OF MEMORIAL DEADLINE

In view of the Preliminary Examinations that were moved to this Monday, the Executive Committee has decided to extend the deadline for the submission of Memorials for the 12th Wenceslao De La Paz Moot Court Competition.

The new deadline will be:

📅 August 27, 2026 (Thursday)
⏰ Exactly at 1:00 PM, Philippine Standard Time

We hope this extension gives everyone sufficient time to finalize their Memorials.
