Following the conclusion of their pre-deployment activities and pinning ceremony, 141 teacher interns from the VSU Tolosa Department of Teacher Education were deployed to their respective DepEd schools yesterday, September 21, to begin their on-site teaching internship.

Accompanied by DTE faculty members, the interns formally commenced their almost 3-month training under the guidance of their cooperating teachers and school personnel.

On September 7, 141 fourth-year BEEd, BSEd, and BPEd students participated in the 6th Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony at the VSU Tolosa Gymnatorium, marking their transition into the teaching internship phase.

Hosted by the VSU Tolosa Department of Teacher Education, the ceremony brought together the teacher interns and their parents, guardians, and loved ones, who joined them during the pinning rites. The ceremony also featured the pledge taking and candle lighting, emphasizing the internsโ€™ commitment to uphold the values and responsibilities of the teaching profession.

DTE faculty members, led by Department Head Dr. Marilou B. Peรฑeda, and VSU Tolosa Chancellor Dr. Quenstein D. Lauzon also attended the ceremony, joining the interns as they took this significant step toward their teaching careers.

The ceremony also featured an inspirational message from Instr. Carl Joshua L. Lanza, a VSU Tolosa Batch 2025 alumnus and 7th placer in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (Secondary Level), who now serves as a faculty member of the institution.

Instr. Erick M. Ocenar, Teaching Internship Coordinator, urged the students to rise to the challenges ahead as they embark on their teaching journey in their respective DepEd schools during his closing message.

The LEPT Enhancement and Advancement Program (LEAP) 2026 continued its intensive review activities in July and August, providing Education graduates and aspiring professional teachers with focused preparation in specialization, General Education, and Professional Education as they work toward the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

The program continued its specialization review on July 30, with Carl Joshua L. Lanza, who ranked Top 7 in the March 2026 LEPT (Secondary Level), leading the Science session. The review focused on strengthening participantsโ€™ understanding of key concepts and competencies in their specialization while providing practical insights and strategies drawn from Lanzaโ€™s recent licensure examination experience.

On August 8, LEAP 2026 hosted another specialization review with a dedicated Mathematics session led by Jade Art O. Silvano, who ranked Top 9 in the March 2026 LEPT (Secondary Level). The discussion tackled essential concepts in the specialization and highlighted approaches that participants could use in working through Mathematics-related items in the examination.

The program then shifted its focus to the foundational components of the LEPT on August 15, with sessions in General Education and Professional Education. Jerlyn C. Cadion, who ranked Top 3 in the March 2026 LEPT (Elementary Level), facilitated the General Education review, while Antonio V. Lumpas, Jr., who placed Top 6 in the March 2016 LET (Elementary Level), handled the Professional Education session. Together, the sessions covered the remaining General Education and Professional Education components of the LEPT, completing LEAP 2026โ€™s review coverage across its examination categories.

Conducted through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous online reviews and mock examinations, these activities form part of LEAP 2026โ€™s continuing effort to provide structured and comprehensive preparation for future professional teachers.
