It has come to our attention that an individual is pretending to be Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, Campus Director of Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU-TO), and contacting individuals through Gmail for monetary assistance allegedly for a project.

Please be advised that the said request did not come from Dr. Cobilla and was not authorized by him or by SLSU-TO.

Everyone is strongly advised to ignore such requests, refrain from sending money or sharing personal and financial information, and verify any similar communication through official channels.

If you receive such a message, please keep screenshots and other relevant details and report the incident to the concerned SLSU-TO office or appropriate authorities.

Please remain vigilant and help us prevent others from falling victim to this fraudulent activity.

𝟗𝟕 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫, 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐠𝐲

Ninety-seven teaching interns of Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU-TO) joined an Action Research Seminar aimed at strengthening pedagogical practices through classroom-based inquiry on September 23, 2026.

The seminar was held at the SLSU-TO Mini-Theater and attended by teaching interns, Field Study (FS) Instructors, and resource speaker Dr. Rex M. Lucino.

Lucino emphasized that conducting action research is not a waste of time or resources, highlighting its role in helping teachers examine classroom experiences and use evidence to improve instructional practices.

The seminar covered the distinction between action research and basic research, the essential parts of a complete action research study, the general steps in conducting action research, the ACR Model, and the overall research process.

“We always start with planning, then acting, after that [is] developing, and lastly [is] reflecting,” Lucino said, emphasizing the cyclical process of action research.

An open question-and-answer session followed the seminar, allowing teaching interns to raise questions and seek clarification from Lucino and the FS Instructors. The discussion also provided participants with opportunities to connect the concepts presented to their experiences in the classroom.

Teaching interns from different majors shared their insights and impressions from the seminar, particularly on the relevance of action research to their future teaching practices.

The activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by equipping future educators with research-based and reflective teaching practices that promote effective, inclusive, and responsive learning.
