by: Heleana Thereese Malana
Third-year Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAComm) students at Cagayan State University – Carig Campus presented and defended their thesis proposals on April 20, 2026, at the Integrated Communication Laboratory.
Each student delivered a 10-minute presentation followed by a question-and-answer session, where a panel of evaluators provided critiques and recommendations to strengthen the studies’ methodology, relevance, and academic rigor.
The proposed research topics covered a wide range of contemporary communication issues, including artificial intelligence in communication and creative fields, disinformation solutions, diaspora vlogging, cultural storytelling, workplace communication, and local cultural practices.
The panel of evaluators included internal panelists Dr. Yrmeliza V. Rodriguez, Dr. Jan Justin Rodriguez, Dr. Kristinne Joyce Lara, Dr. Patrianne M. Padua, Dr. Jomel B. Manuel, and Dr. Chirbet Ayunon, with external evaluation provided by Dr. John Ponsaran of the University of the Philippines Manila and the University of the Philippines Open University, who joined the session via Google Meet.
Panelists assessed the proposals based on conceptual grounding, feasibility, and potential contribution to communication research. Their recommendations will guide revisions before final approval and implementation.
The activity forms part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHaSS) research agenda, which promotes interdisciplinary research aligned with digital innovation, cultural development, governance, and sustainability.
