| SECAP Week 2026: Celebrating Dreams, Faith, and Excellence in the Blue Blood Carnival

The School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) celebrated its SECAP Week 2026 from October 5 to 9, bringing the community together under the theme "SECAPtacular: Festival of Dreams and Excellence,” also embraced as the Blue Blood Carnival.

The festivities began with the SECAP Fun Run 2026, promoting physical fitness, healthy living, and camaraderie among students, faculty, and staff. The activity set an energetic tone for the week, bringing the SECAP community together through a shared commitment to wellness and active participation in the celebration.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Due consideration and kind understanding for all, fairness, compassion, and the truth will allow us to appropriately deal with the untimely demise of Cassandra Mandy A. Miguel, Grade 9 Junior High School Student at the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT). The USLT community shares in the irreparable loss and continues to pray for Mandy and for all who are affected by the incident. We thank everyone who extended their sympathy, understanding, and support to the Miguel Family and USLT in these trying times.

USLT has consciously refrained from publicly commenting on the matter as it honored the request of Mandy’s family for privacy. USLT continues to cooperate with concerned government authorities, and the family of Mandy, to resolutely and accurately determine the complete facts and circumstances of the tragic incident. While USLT notes the concerns, questions, and issues that have been raised through different fora, it will not engage in or cater to speculations, unfounded or unfair inferences, or outright falsehoods.

The established protocols for security, safety, emergency response, student care, empathy with stakeholders, coordination with parents/guardians, monitoring and management of student conduct and wellness have been in place; they were followed; and they are progressively upgraded. USLT recognizes that there may be things beyond the knowledge and control of the University or its officers and employees but it nevertheless remains committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone.

It may take time and a high yet humble sense of responsibility for us all to heal, but we are hopeful and confident that our Christian and Louisian values will carry us on.

USLT joins Parul University’s 12th International Week in India

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), represented by Alvin A. Aldea, RMT, MSMT, Dean of the School of Health and Allied Sciences, attended the 12th International Week of Parul University in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, on October 5–10, 2026.

During the international gathering, Mr. Aldea met with the President and Vice President of Parul University and the Centre for International Relations, led by Dr. Preeti Nair, to engage in discussions on international collaboration.

USLT deploys 11 Pharmacy student-interns to Unilab for Industrial Training

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) Pharmacy Department deployed eleven (11) fourth-year BS Pharmacy student-interns on October 6, 2026, for their 300-hour Industrial Pharmacy Internship at Unilab facilities, First Pioneer Distribution, Inc. and Amherst Laboratories, in Biñan City, Laguna.

The deployment marks a milestone in the program’s efforts to strengthen experiential learning through its collaboration with the Philippine Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (PACOP), of which USLT is a regular member, and Unilab Education.

Through the internship, the student-pharmacists will gain practical exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution, allowing them to connect their academic preparation with industry practices and develop competencies relevant to their future careers.
Meanwhile, the interns are accompanied by Ms. Rhealyn A. Legaspi, RPh, Pharmacy Internship Coordinator, and Mr. Vic Valiant O. Laureta, RPh, CPh, MS Pharm, Pharmacy Department Head. The experience reflects USLT’s commitment to preparing future pharmacists for professional practice through industry-based learning opportunities.

The collaboration aims to provide student pharmacists with hands-on industrial exposure and access to a real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing network, complementing classroom instruction with practical learning opportunities.

LPSO officially transitions to JPPHA-USLT

The Louisian Pharmacy Student Organization (LPSO) of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) has officially transitioned into the Junior Philippine Pharmacists Association – University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao Chapter (JPPHA-USLT), recognized under the Federation of Junior Chapters of the Philippine Pharmacists Association (FJCPPhA) National Chapter, effective September 21, 2026.

The transition marks a new milestone for Louisian pharmacy students, opening opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and active participation in initiatives that advance pharmacy education and practice.

Through its new chapter affiliation, JPPHA-USLT continues to promote student leadership and professional responsibility while preparing future pharmacists to contribute to healthcare and community service.

USLT-JHS holds Family Day 2026

Meaningful moments begin with family.

The Junior High School (JHS) Unit of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) held its Family Day on October 10, 2026, under the theme “Faith, Family and Focus: Staying Connected Beyond the Screen,” featuring activities and performances for students, parents, and faculty members.

Activities during the program encouraged family participation and interaction among members of the JHS community. During the celebration, students and their parents had the opportunity to participate in school activities and spend quality time together.

The celebration highlighted the role of family involvement in school life and encouraged students to maintain meaningful connections with their families beyond digital platforms.

In support of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), the activity promoted physical activity and social interaction. It also emphasized the importance of family and school partnerships in supporting students’ well-being.

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), in partnership with Edulearn Technologies, Inc., inaugurated its Virtual Reality (VR) Laboratory, the first of its kind in the region, alongside three Makerspace Robotics Laboratories for elementary, junior high school, and senior high school students on October 12, 2026. The initiative marks a significant step in advancing technology-enhanced education, hands-on learning, and innovation at the university.

The facilities are designed to provide students and educators with spaces to explore ideas, conduct experiments, develop practical skills, and engage with emerging technologies, reinforcing USLT’s commitment to academic development and future-ready education.

The ceremony featured the ribbon-cutting and blessing rites, formally marking the opening of the laboratories. It began with welcome remarks from Emily T. Mabborang, Ph.D., Basic Education School Principal, followed by a message from University President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D.; who underscored the university’s commitment to innovation and meaningful learning experiences. In addition were the messages from Ma’am Marissa Gonzales, representative of Governor Edgar B. Aglipay, and Tuguegarao City Vice Mayor Pastor Ross Resuello, who underscored the importance of educational innovation and collaboration in expanding learning opportunities for students.

Edulearn Technologies, Inc. President Engr. Delgum D. Jumalon delivered a partnership message emphasizing the value of collaboration between educational institutions and industry in supporting the development of innovative learning environments. Meanwhile, Research and Development Representative Engr. Jomar Cruz highlighted the role of the laboratories in promoting creativity, experimentation, and practical skills development.

Witnessing this milestone alongside the Louisian community were Tuguegarao City Vice Mayor Pastor Ross Resuello; Ma’am Marissa Gonzales, representative of Governor Edgar B. Aglipay; and city council members Hon. Michelle Ann Ting-Yebra, Hon. Dennis Ryan G. Avila, Hon. Tirso V. Mangada, Hon. Anthony C. Tuddao, Hon. Restituto C. Ramirez, Hon. Jude T. Bayona, Hon. Ronaldo “Boyet” S. Ortiz, and Hon. Jackson G. Carodan. Also present were Mr. Amir M. Aquino, representative of the Department of Education (DepEd) Region II, and Ma’am Rochelle Cauilan, representative of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tuguegarao City, along with representatives of Edulearn Technologies, Inc.

The establishment of the Makerspace Laboratories and Virtual Reality Laboratory reinforces USLT’s commitment to providing learning environments that encourage students to explore ideas, develop practical skills, and apply their knowledge through innovation. The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting meaningful, future-ready learning and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among the university, industry partners, and the wider community.

CICM student leaders gather at USLT for 2026 leadership convergence

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) hosts the CICM Student Leadership Convergence 2026 from October 6 to 9, uniting student leaders from across CICM schools for a shared journey of leadership, faith, and mission.

With the theme “Young Leaders as Missionary Disciples: Surviving the Challenges, Serving the Mission, and Leading with Faith, Unity, and Purpose,” the convergence frames leadership as a journey of survival, growth, and service. The gathering encourages student leaders to face challenges together while deepening their commitment to the missionary vocation of CICM education.

The convergence brings together student leaders from Saint Louis University, Saint Louis College–La Union, Saint Louis College–Cebu, Saint Mary’s University, and USLT, providing opportunities for them to connect, exchange experiences, and strengthen their sense of unity as young leaders in CICM institutions.
