Cagayan State University College of Law has officially captured the CHAMPIONSHIP crown in the National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law Role Play Challenge, emerging victorious over the countryโs leading law schools.
CSU Law secured the top spot, with the University of the Philippines Diliman School of Law finishing as First Runner Up and Ateneo de Naga University School of Law as Second Runner Up.
This historic victory marks one of the Collegeโs strongest performances on the national stage in recent years, showcasing the growing excellence and advocacy-driven training of its student-mooters.

MANILA, Philippines โ The Cagayan State University College of Law achieved a landmark victory after securing the Championship in the Role Play Challenge of the 2025 National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), organized by the Philippine Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
The competition brought together the Top 8 law schools nationwide for the Role Play Challenge, where participants were tested on the practical application of International Humanitarian Law in high-pressure humanitarian crisis scenarios. Across three complex simulations involving civilian protection, humanitarian access, and conflict-related emergencies, CSU Lawโs contingent demonstrated exceptional analytical skill, negotiation finesse, and command of IHL principles.
Representing the university were Raymond Romeo Q. Domingo, and Jerome O. Rebocca, whose standout performance earned CSU Law the national championship in the role play category.
In addition to their championship win, the CSU Law IHL Team also reached the Quarterfinals of the Moot Court Competition, showcasing their advocacy and legal reasoning against some of the countryโs strongest law schools.
The team was led by Head Coach Atty. Norman Clarence T. Lasam and Coach Stephen Melad, who provided rigorous training and strategic guidance throughout the competition season. Assisting the oralists were alternate/oralist Mr. Stanley Donato, and researchers Lara Dominique Ancheta, Dean Abednego Narag, Dolph Christian Battung, Jem N. Casauay, and Alfredo G. Famoso III, whose research support proved vital in both the moot and role play components.
A significant highlight of the event was the awarding ceremony held inside the En Banc Session Hall of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, where CSU Law received its championship trophy and recognitions. Standing before the very bench that symbolizes the nationโs highest judicial authority, the CSU delegation celebrated a moment described by many as aspirational and deeply meaningful.
Following the win, Domingo expressed gratitude on behalf of the team:

The National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law remains the countryโs premier platform in advancing awareness on the protection of civilians, humanitarian principles, and legal frameworks governing armed conflict.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Law emerged as First Runner Up, while Ateneo de Naga University chool of Law secured the Second Runner Up position in the NMCC Role Play Challenge.
