This month, we proudly honor the strength, courage, and achievements of women everywhere. From leaders and dreamers to workers, caregivers, educators, and artistsโ€”you build communities with resilience and open doors for others to follow. You carry responsibilities with grace, face challenges with determination, and continue to inspire those around you. Every action you take leaves a mark of hope for generations to come.

You are not defined by a single role. You are a leader, a guide, a protector, and a voice for change. In every space you enter, you bring light and strength, empowering others as you rise. You rise not only for yourself, but for those who look up to you and for the generations who will follow your example. As young individuals and future leaders, we believe empowerment begins with respect, equality, and opportunity. We remain committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where every girl feels valued and heard.

May this celebration remind us that supporting and empowering women does not end with this month. It is a responsibility we carry every dayโ€”in our words, in our actions, and in the way we treat one another. When we choose to encourage and stand beside one another, we grow stronger together and build a future filled with equality and hope.

Pakapakapyan mu Kanayun
(Galingan mo Palagi)

Meaning: Galingan mo palagi in Tagalog, and Always do your best in English.

โ€œPakapakapyan mu Kanayunโ€ is a phrase commonly used in the Itawes and Ybanag languages spoken in the Cagayan Valley in Northern Luzon. It expresses encouragement, reminding someone to consistently give their best effort in whatever they do.
The phrase is formed from two parts: โ€œPakapyan mu,โ€ which can be interpreted as โ€œayusin moโ€ or โ€œdo it betterโ€, and โ€œKanayun,โ€ which means โ€œpalagiโ€ or โ€œalwaysโ€. When combined, the phrase becomes a motivating expression that encourages perseverance, improvement, and dedication in oneโ€™s actions.

Galingan mo palagi, kahit walang nakakakita. Hindi man umalingawngaw ang palakpak o hiyaw ng iba, alam mong ibinigay mo ang iyong buong makakaya. Pasado man o kinulang, as long as you did your best, ayos lang yon. Bawat araw laging mag bagong pagkakataon para mas gumaling pa.

PATULOY. PANUKAD!

The EDSA People Power Revolution was not merely a transition of power; it was a profound testament to the collective soul of a nation that had reached its breaking point. Forged in the fires of systemic injustice and the ultimate sacrifice of those who believed freedom was worth more than life itself, it stood as a global beacon of peaceful resistance.

"EDSA happened for a reason"โ€”it was the explosive, inevitable response to decades of suppressed voices. When a sea of yellow flooded the streets to face down tanks with nothing but prayers and flowers, it wasn't just a protest against a single regime; it was an affirmation of the Filipinoโ€™s inherent dignity and a demand for a future where the truth could no longer be silenced.

However, a question lies at the heart of many, "After EDSA, we were given a chance to choose, but who did the people choose?"

The tragedy highlighted today is not the revolution itself, but the persistence of the very cycles it sought to breakโ€”the entrenchment of political dynasties, the return of corruption, and a culture of shifting blame onto the very event that granted us the right to self-determination. We often treat EDSA as a static historical footnote, yet challenges us to see it as a standard we have struggled to maintain. To blame the revolution for the current state of the nation is to misinterpret the gift of 1986; EDSA provided the keys to the house, but it could not dictate how the inhabitants would keep it.

As part of their Life and Work of Rizal course, the Second Year Social Studies students bring to life the story of Josรฉ Rizalโ€™s familyโ€”the foundation that nurtured the ideals of a hero.

๐™…๐™ค๐™จรฉ ๐™๐™ž๐™ฏ๐™–๐™ก was born to ๐™๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ž๐™จ๐™˜๐™ค ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ง๐™˜๐™–๐™™๐™ค, a hardworking farmer, and ๐™๐™š๐™ค๐™™๐™ค๐™ง๐™– ๐˜ผ๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™จ๐™ค ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™™๐™–, a woman of wisdom, resilience, and deep faith. Together, they instilled in their children the values of education, discipline, and patriotism, which became the bedrock of Rizalโ€™s character.

As the seventh of eleven children, Rizal grew up surrounded by siblings whose lives and experiences shaped his worldview:

Jermaigne ๐™‹๐™–๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™– as ๐™๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™˜๐™ž๐™จ๐™˜๐™ค ๐™ˆ๐™š๐™ง๐™˜๐™–๐™™๐™ค, a hardworking farmer.

Angel Mae Eroy as ๐™Ž๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™–, the eldest, married Manuel Hidalgo and helped publish the Tagalog translation of Noli Me Tangere.

Sundy Rodriguez as ๐™‹๐™–๐™˜๐™ž๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ค, his only brother and mentor, became a Major General in the revolutionary army.

Enen Duran as ๐™‰๐™–๐™ง๐™˜๐™ž๐™จ๐™– (Doรฑa Sisa), known for memorizing Rizalโ€™s poems, married Antonio Lopez.

Eden Fuentes as ๐™Š๐™ก๐™ž๐™ข๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™–, married Silvestre Ubaldo, a telegraph operator in Manila.

This presentation not only highlights the family of Josรฉ Rizal but also revives and imparts their greatest contributions, showing how their guidance, sacrifices, and values helped shape our national hero.
