BSIT–III Actively Participates in the 2025 Research Colloquium

The third-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT-3) students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Unisan Campus proudly showcased their innovative research solutions during the Research Colloquium 2025 on December 12, 2025, 8:00 AM at PUP Unisan gymnasium, with the theme: Exploring approaches and Futures of Education, Technological Transformation towards Resilience and Innovation.

Dr. Edwin G. Malabuyoc, Campus Director, welcomed participants and underscored the importance of the research colloquium in academic growth. He highlighted its role in strengthening community engagement, supporting research development, and fostering dedication to impactful studies for the community.

Then, Dr. Honesto O. Camino, Fundamentals of Research instructor, outlined the mechanics for the upcoming presentations. His clear instructions and reminders helped students feel confident and ready to effectively present their systems.

Following this, Mr. Ryan P. Villalon, BSIT Program Chair, delivered a compelling overview of his research project on a Blood Reserve Recommender and Mapping System.

Next to present was Dr. Honesto O. Camino, who discussed his research titled Conceptual Clarification, Theoretical Grounding, and Nomological Representation of Psychological Agility.

The final presenter was Dr. Jonathan A. Marquez, who presented his study on the Relationship between Leadership Environment and VUCAD World Capacity among Directors, Faculty, and Students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines' campuses.

These research presentations emphasized their significance and the impact they aim to create, particularly in driving technological and academic solutions that benefits us all.

The distinguished panel of evaluators included Mr. Don Lenard E. Pescadero, Prof. Rommel Manuquil, and Mr. Angelo P. Pera, BSIT instructors. Mr. Ryan P. Villalon, BSIT Program Chair, Ms. Marijoy Antone, Research Collaborator, and Dr. Jonathan A. Marquez, Head of Academic Programs, provided valuable expertise and constructive feedback during the evaluation process.

Each group presented their project and its significance within a five-minute time frame, followed by a Q&A session where the panel assessed their knowledge and provided insights to enhance their research.

The Research Colloquium served both as a showcase of academic excellence and a celebration of PUP Unisan Campus dedication to fostering a culture of research and innovation, while showcasing commitment to fostering a culture of research and innovation, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Tech-Talk 1.0 Navigating the IT World

Supported by Dr. Edwin G. Malabuyoc, Campus Director, the Information Technology Organization (ITO) held an on-site seminar and workshop titled “Navigating the World of IT – Tech Talk 1.0” with the theme “Git Ready: Essential Skills for Every Developer” on November 21, 2025, at the PUP–Unisan Gymnasium.

Featuring resource speaker Mr. Jhunel B. Peñaflorida, the session provided students with practical insights and hands-on learning on essential developer skills, including foundational lessons on Git.

This seminar was organized to equip IT students with industry-ready technical skills, deepen their understanding of current trends in the tech industry, and inspire them to pursue excellence in both their academic and future professional endeavors.

The workshop also contributed to advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) by promoting relevant technical learning, Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8) by preparing students for employment in the IT industry, and Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) by fostering skills that support technological innovation. In this way, the seminar not only empowered participants but also connected learning to global goals.

As we wrap up this inspiring event, Mr. Ryan P. Villalon, Program Chair, and the ITO officers extend heartfelt thanks to all participants and encourage everyone to put the shared practices into greater action.

Honored to share that our BSIT officers, both classroom and organizational leaders, actively took part in the Good Governance Seminar organized by Kaya Natin Youth — Unisan, held at the PUP Unisan Campus!

This seminar seeks to increase youth awareness and comprehension of ethical leadership and responsible citizenship. It was a motivating experience filled with important lessons, teamwork, and mentality upgrades through leadership growth. From thought-provoking talks and exercises, we gained life-changing knowledge that empowered us to lead with purpose, making us into leaders who inspire trust and drive meaningful impact.

Bravo to everyone who helped make this event happen! The values presented in our Good Governance Seminar have greatly inspired and directed the BSIT community!

“Isko-wela Linis,” a Campus Cleanup Drive, was proudly led by the Information Technology Organization (ITO) together with its dedicated BSIT students from 1st year to 3rd year. Through these acts of cooperation, we continue to strengthen our sense of responsibility and unity within the campus community.

This collective effort reflects our commitment to helping our beloved Sintang Paaralan, PUP Unisan Campus, to maintain a clean, safe, and inspiring environment for all. 🌿🌱

Last November 7, 2025, representatives from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Unisan Campus, composed of students from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) programs, together with Mr. Ryan P. Villalon, Program Chairperson of BSIT, and Mr. Angelo P. Pera, Program Chairperson of DIT, attended the 5th PUP Research Pitching Competition organized by the Research Institute for Science and Technology (RIST) at PUP Sta. Mesa, Manila.

The event showcased innovative research presentations from various PUP campuses, each supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). PUP Unisan Campus proudly attended the event to express its support for the university’s commitment to research excellence and sustainable innovation.

BSIT 3 Title Defense 2025 🎓

Last October 3, 2025, the BSIT 3 students successfully held their Research Title Defense, where each group presented their proposed research titles and ideas.

The session was led by the BSIT3 research adviser, Sir Angelo P. Pera, together with the panelists Mr. Jhunel B. Peñaflorida, Sir Jonathan A. Marquez, Sir Don Lenard Pescadero, and Sir Rommel D. Manuquil.

The second batch had their turn on October 6, 2025, along with the DIT students.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and gave their best during the defense! 👏
