Strengthening the Reserve Force: PSU (USA) ROTC Unit Holds Closing Ceremony and Turnover for Newly Enlisted Reservists.
On May 24, 2025, at 0900, the Pangasinan State University (PSU) Urdaneta, Sta Maria, and Asingan ROTC Units successfully held their Closing Ceremony and turned over newly enlisted reservists to the 105th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (RRIBn). The event took place at the Amphitheater of the PSU Urdaneta Campus in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of LTC REY DAVID A TAQUEBAN INF (GSC) PA, Director of the 105th (PGN-E) Community Defense Center (CDC), 1RCDG, RESCOM, PA, with a total of 43 Advance ROTC cadets and 543 Basic ROTC cadets. The graduates of the Basic ROTC programs were formally turned over as newly enlisted reservists to the 105th RRIBnโa vital step in strengthening the Philippine Armyโs Reserve Force.
The Guest of Honor and Speaker was Dr. Elbert M. Galas, President of Pangasinan State University, who was ably represented by Dr. Roy C. Ferrer, Campus Executive Director of PSU Urdaneta Campus. In his speech, Dr. Ferrer praised the dedication, discipline, and patriotism demonstrated by the cadets, emphasizing that their enlistment marks the beginning of a lifelong commitment to serve the nation.
The ceremony highlighted the university's ongoing partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines through the Reserve Command, Philippine Army, in developing well-trained, capable, and disciplined reservists. It also emphasized the importance of ROTC in shaping the character and leadership skills of Filipino youth, preparing them not only for future military service but also for responsible citizenship.
As the cadets marched forward, their oath as reservists echoed through the amphitheaterโa powerful reminder of their readiness to serve the country in times of peace, crisis, and national emergency.
The 105th CDC, in coordination with the 105th RRIBn, is dedicated to building a strong reserve force made up of passionate, trained, and dependable individualsโa testament to the success of the ROTC program in institutions like Pangasinan State University.
