The UPLB GE Program is one with the Filipino nation in commemorating the 54th anniversary of the declaration of the Martial Law. The declaration plunged the country into one of the darkest moments in Philippine history, characterized by massive human rights violations and unprecedented corruption. The violent memory of authoritarian rule continues to traumatize and haunt the current Philippine polity.

As a contribution to the ongoing struggle to contest the distortion of history aimed at advancing authoritarian nostalgia, one of the General Education electives currrently offered in UPLB is PS 21: Wika, Panitikan, at Kultura sa Ilalim ng Batas Militar, which probes into the atrocities and dark legacies of the Marcos dictatorship, and foregrounds the brave history of resistance by activists and revolutionaries dedicated to the cause of liberation and democracy. 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐒𝐔-𝐔𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐚
Pangasinan State University–Urdaneta City Campus formally held the 𝐎𝐚𝐭𝐡-𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐲 for the officers of 18 accredited student organizations, composed of co-curricular organizations and interest clubs, marking the beginning of a new term of student leadership, service, and active campus involvement.
The oath of office was administered by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐄. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨, 𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐄, Vice President for Local and International Affairs and Campus Executive Director, together with 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐅. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐬𝐢𝐥, Dean of the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs. The newly inducted officers were also joined by the respective 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨-𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐬 of the different student organizations, who continue to provide guidance and support in the implementation of their programs and activities.
The ceremony was facilitated with the assistance of 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐫. 𝐕. 𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐠, Secretary of the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs, as student officers formally accepted the responsibilities entrusted to them and reaffirmed their commitment to serve their fellow students and the University community.
With their commitment strengthened through the oath, the newly inducted officers, together with their advisers and co-advisers, are set to work toward meaningful initiatives that promote student engagement, collaboration, responsibility, and service. Congratulations to all newly inducted student leaders, advisers, and co-advisers!
