CEREBRAL PALSY AWARENESS AND PROTECTION WEEK
September 16 - 22, 2026

As we observe Cerebral Palsy Awareness and Protection Week, the Health Services Unit - Villanueva joins the nation in promoting greater awareness, understanding, and inclusion of persons living with cerebral palsy (CP).

Cerebral palsy is a group of conditions that affect movement, posture, and coordination due to abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain. It is not contagious, and its effects vary from person to person because no two experiences with CP are exactly the same.

But beyond knowing the facts, awareness should also translate into how we treat people.
♿ RESPECT ACCESSIBILITY. Help create spaces where everyone can participate safely and comfortably.
🤝 ASK, DON’T ASSUME. Offer assistance respectfully instead of assuming what someone can or cannot do.
🗣️ SPEAK TO THE PERSON DIRECTLY. Every individual deserves to be heard and included in conversations about themselves.
⏳ BE PATIENT. A little understanding and consideration can make our campus more welcoming for everyone.

The Health Services Unit - Villanueva reminds everyone that staying hydrated is not just about quenching your thirst; it helps your body function at its best, especially during hot weather.

Here’s your reminder to sip, refill, repeat because proper hydration helps:
🌡️ Regulate body temperature.
🧠 Support brain function.
🍽️ Aid digestion.
🩺 Support kidney function.
💦 Prevent dehydration.

The Health Services Unit - Villanueva reminds everyone to take precautions as haze from forest fires in Kalimantan, Indonesia has reached parts of the Philippines, including areas in Mindanao.

Fine particulate matter such as PM2.5 can affect our respiratory and overall health. Please:
😷 Wear a well-fitting mask when outdoors.
🏃‍♀️ Limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activities.
🚪 Keep doors and windows closed when haze is present.
💧 Stay hydrated.
