Catanduanes State University (CatSU) has been recognized as an Official Partner School of the Registered Marketing Professional (RMP) and Registered Business Professional (RBP) Certification Program of Junior Achievement (JA) Philippines.

The university received a Certification of Recognition on September 4 in Makati City, marking its partnership with JA Philippines in advancing professional development in marketing and business.

The recognition cites CatSU’s commitment to professional excellence, industry-aligned education, and the development of future marketing and business professionals.

For CatSU President Dr. Gemma G. Acedo, the recognition is more than an institutional distinction. It is an opportunity to give students experiences and competencies that can help them beyond the classroom.

“This recognition is a welcome opportunity for CatSU and, more importantly, for our students. We want them to gain not only academic knowledge but also skills and experiences that they can use when they enter the workplace. Through this partnership, we hope to give our future marketing and business professionals more opportunities to grow, gain confidence, and prepare for their careers.”

The certification was signed by JA Philippines Executive Director Krishna Alejandrino, MSC, ChBA, and National Project Manager Paula Patrice Dela Cruz.

The partnership gives CatSU another avenue to connect classroom learning with professional development, particularly for students preparing for careers in marketing and business.

𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 | CatSU announces the availability of 300 slots (200 for CatSU Main Campus and 100 for CatSU Panganiban) under the CHED Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) for qualified students for AY 2026-2027, through the assistance of Sen. Lito Lapid.

Qualified students are encouraged to complete their documentary requirements and submit them from September 10-16, 2026 at the OSSFACDPS, G/F Administrative Building or look for Director Gemma M. Samas.

The workshop brought together students from the Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) program of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUMSS).

A research award may mark an achievement, but for Catanduanes State University (CatSU) Research and Development Services (RDS) Director Dr. Jose Z. Tria, it should not mark the end of the work.

“Everyone is a winner,” Tria said during the closing and awarding program of the 2026 Multidisciplinary Research Conference and Annual In-House Review of Completed Researches and Search for USWAG Award on August 27 at ARDCI Hotel.

Tria said the researchers had put in the work, pushed through constraints, and successfully presented and defended their studies.

But completing a study, he stressed, is only the start.

Research can move from defense to publication, extension, copyright, and commercialization. More importantly, it must move beyond the campus and serve the people.

“The challenge for us in the university is to bring our research to the society,” Tria said, pointing to research as a tool for community and social development.

The College of Education took this year’s Best Productivity Award after recording the highest number of completed research projects.

The USWAG Awards recognized researchers in science and technology and non-S&T fields.

In the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research category, the award went to the research of Wally Tapas and Christian Paul Tawat.

The award for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technologies Research went to Prof. Belen M. Tapado.

For Education and Institutional Productivity, the winning research was by Dr. Rosana Abundo, Asst. Prof. Emlyn Lanon, Dr. Maria Charlene Cantar, Dr. Maria Sheila Gregorio, Dr. Edna Pante, and Michelle Karen Miguel.

The Social Science category was won by Dr. Jimmylen Tonio.

Tria also thanked the faculty researchers, university administration, evaluators, and RDS staff for their work in the research activities.

The awards may have closed the conference, but Tria’s message pointed to what comes next: taking research off the page and into the community.

For the researchers, the real measure of the work may not be the award on the shelf, but what their findings can do for the people they serve.
