AZUL AGUILAS ASSEMBLY! 💙 | The AdZU Athletics community came together yesterday, October 3, 2026, at MPCC 1, Salvador Campus, for the 2nd Athletics General Assembly.

Mr. Honey Rod T. Alfaro, Unit Director for Formation, reminded our student-athletes and coaches that sports are part of formation. In every game and off-campus event, we represent AdZU through our actions, how we treat others, and the values we carry.

The first State of Athletics Address shared the program’s accomplishments and continuing efforts to strengthen athlete development, coach formation, safety, and support. The calendar of activities and Oath of Sportsmanship also affirmed our shared direction and commitment for the school year.

Fr. Jerome Emmanuel D. Guevara, SJ, encouraged our athletes to live out Magis by giving their best with purpose, and offered a blessing for our student-athletes and coaches as they continue their journey.

Thank you to our student-athletes, coaches, parents, guardians, and administrators for being part of this gathering. Together, let us carry these reminders into every training session, competition, and opportunity to represent Ateneo.

2ND ATHLETICS GENERAL ASSEMBLY | The Ateneo de Zamboanga University Athletics Office will hold its 2nd Athletics General Assembly tomorrow, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at MPCC 1, Salvador Campus.

The assembly brings together our student-athletes, coaches, parents, guardians, and administrators to strengthen our shared commitment to sportsmanship, character-building, and formation through sports.

The program includes the introduction of student-athletes and coaches, the State of the Athletics Address, the calendar of activities, the Oath of Sportsmanship, and a blessing for our athletics community.

Happy Birthday, Sir Chad!

Even from afar, our students and student-athletes call out and greet you when they see you. These simple moments say a lot about the connection you have built with them. They know you, feel comfortable approaching you, and are happy to see you.

Thank you for being a familiar and supportive presence for our young athletes, Sir Chad. We are grateful for the care you bring to your role as our JHS Athletics Coordinator.

BLS Training & First Aid Certification | Continuing our commitment to strengthening emergency preparedness within the Formation Unit.

Last September 5–6, the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Formation Unit, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Zamboanga City Chapter, conducted the Phase 2 Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and First Aid Certification, which was attended by Athletics coaches and Campus Ministers.

This second phase is part of our continuing effort to progressively certify and equip our coaches with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond appropriately during emergencies, especially in the conduct of training, competitions, and other activities involving our student-athletes. The two-day training covered Occupational First Aid and BLS-CPR with AED, including emergency action principles, patient assessment, and cardiac emergencies.

Since Phase 1, we have also opened this training opportunity to personnel from the different offices under the Formation Unit, recognizing that emergency preparedness is valuable not only in Athletics but across the different areas of formation. For Phase 2, our Campus Ministers joined our coaches in completing the two-day training.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Philippine Red Cross – Zamboanga City Chapter for once again sharing your time, expertise, and hands-on training with our coaches and fellow formators. Your continued partnership helps us build a community that is better equipped and prepared to respond when needed.

INVITATION | Mass for Healing

The Ateneo de Zamboanga University community is invited to come together in prayer during the Mass for Healing on August 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at the University Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

As one community, we gather to seek God’s healing and offer prayers for all those affected by the incident.

The Mass will also be livestreamed through the official page of Ateneo de Zamboanga University for those who are unable to attend in person.

Let us come together in faith and solidarity, drawing strength from one another and placing our trust in God during this challenging time.
