🎓 *PhD Public Defense of Dr. Shafqat Rasool in Eastern Medicine Successfully Held* 🌿

The public defense of PhD scholar *Mr. Shafqat Rasool* from the *University College of Conventional Medicine (UCCM), The Islamia University of Bahawalpur*, was successfully held on *September 12, 2026, at Khawaja Fareed Campus, IUB*.

The scholar defended his PhD thesis in the discipline of *Eastern Medicine* titled:

📖 *"Exploring the Hepatoprotective, Antioxidant, and Anticancer Potential of Heliotropium strigosum and Albizia lebbeck"* 🔬

The research was completed under the supervision of *Dr. Ghazala Shaheen*.

The defense was evaluated by External Examiner *Dr. Sultan Ayaz*, who highly appreciated the quality, originality, and scientific significance of the research. He termed the work a marvellous and valuable contribution to evidence-based research in Eastern and natural medicine. 👏

The ceremony was graced by *Prof. Dr. Qaiser Jabeen*, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, and *Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Asif*, Principal, University College of Conventional Medicine, along with faculty members, researchers, and fellow PhD scholars.

A Monumental Scientific Achievement – Heartiest Congratulations to Dr. Rais Allah Nawaz, Ph.D.

On behalf of the BEMS Medical Association Pakistan and the entire BEMS community worldwide, I extend our warmest felicitations and deepest appreciation to Dr. Rais Allah Nawaz (BEMS, Ph.D.) on his groundbreaking research publication in the prestigious Nature-partner journal, Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy (Impact Factor: 81.2).

Dr. Rais Allah Nawaz has made the entire fraternity proud with his pioneering work titled:

“miRNAs As Cell-Intrinsic Epigenetic Regulators in Muscle in Type 2 Diabetes”

Conducted at the world-renowned **Joslin Diabetes Center / Harvard Medical School** alongside legendary scientist Dr. C. Ronald Kahn and team.

This breakthrough study provides vital insights into how muscle miRNA dysregulation drives metabolic dysfunction, opening new frontiers in understanding insulin signaling, glucose metabolism, and mitochondrial dynamics in Type 2 Diabetes.
