Department of Media & Communication Studies - IUB The official FB page of Deptt of Media & Communication Studies. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. MA Classes were started in 1990.

The Department of Media Studies was established in 1985 by offering one year Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism. Since then, more than 1500 students have graduated and most of them are working in different Media Organizations, Public Relation Departments, Academic Institutions and NGOs. More than ten students have earned their MPhil degrees. The Department also offers a PhD Program. Six scholars

have been awarded PhD degrees while ten others are in the process of writing their dissertations. FM Radio Station has also been functioning since 2006. It provides a platform to the students to practice their skills at their home institution. Keeping in view the practical learning of the students a Video Editing and Graphic Animation Lab (VEGA Lab) has been established with a donation of two video cameras, 15 computers with necessary video software received from a London based International NGO. Internship Program is an integral part of the study scheme which provides the opportunity of practical training to the students. More than 2000 books on various courses of Media Studies are available in the Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Library of the University. A computer lab comprising of 30 computers with internet facility has been provided to the students as well as faculty members. The establishment of a TV studio and a Print Media Lab are under progress.

اسلامیہ یونیورسٹی بہاولپور کے شعبہ میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن اسٹڈیز کے زیرِ اہتمام 12 اگست کو جشنِ آزادی پاکستان کی مناسبت سے طلباء و طالبات کے درمیان ویڈیو ڈاکومینٹری مقابلے اور اسکریننگ کا شاندار انعقاد کیا گیا۔

تقریب کے دوران طلباء کی تیار کردہ تخلیقی ویڈیو ڈاکومینٹریز پیش کی گئیں، جن کا اساتذہ اور جیوری ممبران نے تفصیلی معائنہ کیا اور ان کے کام پر مثبت اور تنقیدی آرائیں پیش کیں۔ اس قدم کا مقصد طلباء کو میڈیا پروڈکشن کی باریکیوں سے آگاہ کرنا اور ان کے کام کو مزید بہتر بنانا تھا۔

اس موقع پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے چئیرمین شعبہ میڈیا اینڈ کمیونیکیشن اسٹڈیز ڈاکٹر ملک عدنان کا کہنا تھا کہ اس قسم کے مقابلوں کا انعقاد طلباء میں عملی اور تکنیکی صلاحیتوں کو نکھارنے میں انتہائی اہم کردار ادا کرتا ہے، جس سے ان کی تخلیقی صلاحیتیں مزید اجاگر ہوتی ہیں۔

شعبہ میڈیا کے مطابق مقابلے میں نمایاں پوزیشن حاصل کرنے والے (پہلے، دوسرے اور تیسرے) طلباء و طالبات میں انعامات 14 اگست یومِ آزادی کی مرکزی تقریب کے موقع پر تقسیم کیے جائیں گے۔
