The Punjab College Bahawalpur, a chain of Punjab Group of Colleges, was established in 2008 and started functioning as an academic institution for higher secondary and graduation classes. It is a valuable addition to the scanty educational resources of Bahawalpur soil. Its target is to impart good quality education in a comfortable environment. In addition to its elegant building, the campuses of
the college provide air-conditioned classrooms, up-to-date labs, and a nice library that adds a greater charm to its learning environment. It also has a high powered (110KVA) electric generator that saves our students from the pain of load shedding. The latest equipments and the facilities like multimedia projectors, plasmas, high speed internet services and latest computers add to the beauty of the colleges. The primary objective of the colleges is to groom and educate young students with a view to build upon their potentials & the personalities that are intellectually and morally sound and socially amiable and well-adjusted. It also enables these young men to play the role of leaders in the mainstream of national activities of their choices. To impart the best quality education, the colleges offer programmes like F.Sc., ICS, I.Com. B.Sc., and B.Com programmes are offered in affiliation with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, while BBA, BSCS, and M.Com are offered under the umbrella of University of Central Punjab (UCP), Lahore. The academic year is divided into three terms. At the end of each term, the colleges conduct examinations, and parents are sent comprehensive progress reports of their children. In this regards, parent-teachers’ meetings are also conducted after the end of each term. The institutions also collect feedback from the students about the efficiency of the teachers. The academic session 2012 was heralded with the outstanding results of our students. Muhammad Adnan Haider bagged first position in Pre-medical Group at Board level, while Warda Nasir achieved second position in Pre-engineering Girls at Board level. In Commerce, like always, our shining student, Sohail Ashraf stood third at Board level. Moreover, our students have also performed superbly in co- and extra-curricular activities in Punjab Youth Festival. Zahra Haq Baryar stood 4th at Provincial level with 2nd at District level in English Essay Writing and Maryam Nadeem was 3rd at Divisional level in Urdu Essay Writing Competitions, while Amna Khan scored 1st position in Mili Naghma at Divisional level in the same stream. In Sports of Punjab Youth Festival, Wasif Zahoor grabbed 2nd in 100 meter and 3rd in 400 meters Athletics, while notching some other positions like 1st in Table Tennis at Divisional level, 2nd in Badminton and Basketball at District levels. Moreover, Punjab Colleges remained overall on 1st position in sports in Bahawalpur Board again. Last but not the least, two of our girl students, Sana Naz, and Maira Sabir are also serving Pakistan Army National and Pakistan Wapda Hockey Teams respectively. This year, Punjab Colleges Bahawalpur conducted a mega event in the history of Bahawalpur with the title ‘Brain of Bahawalpur Quiz Competition-2013’. The aims and objectives of the event was to boost a sense of competition among the students to uplift learning environment and to bring all the students belonging from government and private schools on one platform, so that they would learn from each other. At the end of the Competition, cash prizes along with merit certificates and trophies were awarded among the winners and participants. Two prizes of 1 lac were also given to those students who got positions in Matriculation Board Exams.
