The Green Youth Movement Club & Youth Development Center, University of Malakand in collaboration with Prime Minister's Youth Programme & HEC, Pakistan organized Awareness Walk to commemorate International Day for Biological Diversity: Theme; "Acting Locally for Global Impact"

The Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Malakand Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad led the event alongside Faculty Members from Department of Botany including Prof Dr Nasrullah, Dr Atta Ullah, Dr Saeed Safi & Ms Dilnaz from Department of Zoology, Mr Muhammad Ayub Khan, Focal Person, Green Youth Movement Club & Mr Jamil Anwar Abbasi, Facilitator, Youth Development Center & Students graced the event.

Addressing the participants, the Honorable Vice Chancellor, UoM Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad stated that it is our joint responsibility to promote biodiversity conservation, proper disposal of waste, protect the flora & fauna and efficient use of water to mitigate climate changes to ensure a sustainable environment.
He emphasized that universities must act as hubs for environmental stewardship & translate knowledge into local action.

The event concluded with a renewed pledge to embed biodiversity conservation & sustainable practices into campus life and commitment to turning awareness into consistent, community level action.

Mr Haris Saddique, PhD Scholar in Department of Biotechnology, University of Malakand has ceremonially presented his PhD thesis titled "Evaluation of Structural Properties of Antibiotic-Loaded Green Synthesized Nanoparticles & Their Activity Against Biofilm Formation in Pathogenic Bacteria" under the supervision of Prof Dr Muhammad Aasim & co-supervision of Dr Tariq Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, University of Malakand.

The External Examiners were Prof Dr Noor Muhammad, Kohat University of Science & Technology, Kohat & Prof Dr Malik Badshah, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.

The Chairperson, Department of Biotechnology, University of Malakand Prof Dr Syed Muhammad Jamal & Faculty Members Congratulated Dr Haris Saddique & Research Supervisors for PhD Public Defense.

The External Examiners were Prof Dr Muhammad Naveed, City University of Science & Technology, Peshawar and Dr Mustafa Afeef, Islamia College University, Peshawar.

Certificates Distribution Ceremony for completing the mandatory Pre-Promotion Training of Administrative Officers organized by Quality Enhancement Cell, University of Malakand.

The Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Malakand Prof Dr Rashid Ahmad presented certificates of appreciation to the participants and congratulated them on accomplishing the training program.

Administrative officers of BPS-18, Dr. Zar Muhammad, Mr. Muhammad Naseem Khan, and Syed Ihsan-ul-Haq were among the administrative officers who completed the 30-day training needed for promotion to BPS-19. The training program included sessions led by senior bureaucrats and academic staff from the Federal Secretariat in Islamabad, the Provincial Secretariat, Peshawar, the Secretariat Training Institute, Islamabad, the KP IT Board, Peshawar, Hazara University, Mansehra and the University of Malakand.

It also featured visits focused on E-governance at the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad and the Institute of Management Sciences, Peshawar.

At the concluding ceremony, the Vice Chancellor presented shields to the resource persons, the training coordinator/Director QEC, Dr. Zahid Ali, Office of the Registrar, Office of the Treasurer, and other facilitators for their valuable contributions. He also acknowledged the efforts of team members of Quality Enhancement Cell, UoM for successfully organizing and running the training program.

Awareness Walk to commemorate "International Day for Biological Diversity, 2026: Theme; Act Locally for Global Impact" organized by Green Youth Movement Club & Youth Development Center, University of Malakand in collaboration with Prime Minister's Youth Programme on 21st May, 2026 at 10:00 AM in front of Administration Block, University of Malakand.

The event aims to engage the youth for biodiversity conservation, to protect local flora & fauna, water management, reducing plastic waste & tree plantation for sustainable future.

Let's pledge to strive for environmental stewardship by small, local steps to make a global impact.
