Dr Murad Ali, Associate Professor and Chairman, Department of Political Science, University of Malakand has been awarded prestigious Taiwan Fellowship by the Government of Taiwan. He is only fourth Pakistani recipient so far and the first one in the last five years who has been selected for this distinguished program.
Taiwan Fellowship is a highly competitive international research award sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan. The fellowship supports distinguished foreign scholars and researchers conducting advanced research on Taiwan, the Asia-Pacific region, cross-strait relations, and related fields. The program awards about 100 scholars annually from over 90 countries.
Author of two internationally acclaimed books, the award recognizes Dr Ali’s academic and professional contributions to the study of Sinology as he has published extensively on various aspects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Sino-Pakistan relations. Under this fellowship, Dr Ali will conduct research in collaboration with Professor Dr Chang-Ling Huang, Director of the Global Asia Research Centre (GARC) and Professor at the Department of Political Science in National Taiwan University, Taiwan’s first ranked university.
The Vice Chancellor, University of Malakand Professor Dr Mir Azam Khan Congratulated Dr Murad Ali on his achievement. He stated that the university is proud of him and that this opportunity will enable him to engage with leading scholars and institutions in Taiwan while contributing to greater academic understanding and people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Taiwan. The Vice Chancellor hoped that this achievement will encourage more Pakistani researchers to pursue international academic collaborations and research opportunities.
