Ghazi University and District Administration Launch “Green Initiative” at New Campus
In alignment with the Punjab Government's Green Punjab Vision, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized a large-scale "Green Initiative" Plantation Drive at the University's New Campus.
The event was led by Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Chattha, Vice Chancellor, Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Mr. Muhammad Usman Khalid, Deputy Commissioner, Dera Ghazi Khan. The plantation drive witnessed the enthusiastic participation of the faculty members and students of the School of Business Administration, along with representatives from various university departments.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, enhance green spaces, and contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more climate-resilient Punjab through collective action and responsible environmental stewardship.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad Chattha emphasized the significance of tree plantation, particularly climate-suitable fruit-bearing trees, highlighting their environmental, social, and nutritional benefits. He reaffirmed the University's commitment to expanding plantation efforts and strengthening community participation in environmental conservation.
Mr. Muhammad Usman Khalid appreciated Ghazi University's continued efforts in promoting a greener environment and acknowledged the University's collaboration with the District Administration in advancing sustainable development. He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to future joint plantation campaigns aimed at making Dera Ghazi Khan a greener and more environmentally sustainable city.
The Green Initiative reflects the shared commitment of Ghazi University and the District Administration to the objectives of the Green Punjab Vision—expanding tree cover, improving environmental health, and building a sustainable future for generations to come under the collective message:
