Congratulations to Mr. Asif Mahmood on successful defense of his MS thesis. His research work was "A comparative study on the physical properties of the slub yarns and fabrics produced via ring spinning techniques and injection slub techniques from recycled material"
His research supervisors were Dr. Aamir Abbas Khan and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin.
Mr. Asif is working as Manager, Masood Textile Mills (MTM).

We are delighted to share that 4th patent has been officially granted to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin (Campus Coordinator-FSD& Chairman Textile Engineering). With this he is now among the faculty members with the highest number of granted patents at UET Lahore.

In addition, his eight more patent applications have been filed. Their novelty has been successfully cleared, and responses to the Patent Office's queries—primarily of a minor nature—have already been submitted.

The newly granted patent is titled "A Process of Textile Dyeing and Finishing through Ozone Treatment." This technology can be easily embedded in the existing conventional textile dyeing and finishing process route.

This invention presents an innovative application of ozone to achieve chemical and process efficient textile dyeing and finishing through novel machine and process modifications. The technology has the potential to significantly enhance the sustainability of textile processing by reducing water and chemical consumption while improving overall process efficiency. After extensive research and development, this technology is now ready for industrial commercial trials.

Dr. Khurram Shehzad and Dr. Wardah Anam are the Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs) in this patent.

🎓 Research & Innovation Spotlight at Department of Textile Engineering, UET Lahore, Faisalabad Campus

The Department of Textile Engineering, UET Lahore, Faisalabad Campus is proud to present it's innovative and IP protected smart textile project entitled as:
"Design and Development of a Smart Textile Vest and other products as an Intelligent Wearable Textile System for Health and Physiological Monitoring"
This innovative project demonstrates the development of an intelligent wearable textile solution capable of real-time physiological and health monitoring. Following products are developed under this project
-Smart textile vest
-Smart heating jacket
-Smart LED light shirt
-Smart heating socks
-Smart cooling jacket

The smart textile vest has been designed to monitor multiple health parameters including: Heart Rate Monitoring, Blood Oxygen Saturation, Body Temperature Monitoring, Motion and Activity Tracking, GPS-Based Location Tracking, air quality index and Real-Time Mobile Application Integration. The indigenously developed system offers significant potential for applications in healthcare, special children care, remote patient monitoring, elderly care, occupational health and safety, emergency response, military personnel monitoring, and sports performance analysis.

This project reflects UET and its textile department commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and developing smart textile technologies that contribute to improved healthcare and sustainable technological solutions.

Congratulations to Mr. Ubaidullah saad Berg on successfully defense of his MS thesis. His research work was "Biochar based on domestic organic waste for composite applications, an ecofriendly approach"
His research supervisors were Dr. Aamir Abbas Khan and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin.
Mr. Ubaidullah is an alumnus of UET's textile department and worked as senior officer at Ibrahim Fibers Limited.

*Successfull conduction of UET Lahore, Combined Entry Test 2026 (2nd) for admission in engineering and computeing institutions of punjab at UET Lahore, Faisalabad Campus*
By the grace of Allah combined entry test (ECAT 2026, 2nd) for the admission in engineering and computing institutions of punjab have successfully concluded at UET Lahore Faisalabad Campus.
Faisalabad Campus of UET Lahore was the only center of Faisalabad for the entry test and among the 10 test centers across Punjab. Since the start of the entry test (2023) at Faisalabad Campus the candidates enrollment in the test have increased more than three times in 2026 (2nd) for Faisalabad Campus. Entry test 2026 (2nd) was conducted for 6 days including one test orientation day. Each day includes 4 sessions for each test center. Following campus departments labs were the computerised entry test centers
1.Mechatronic Computer Labs
2.Textile Computer Lab
3.Computer Science computer lab
4.Electrical computer lab

Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir's support and encouragement was crucial for this. Efforts of all the Main campus and Faisalabad Campus teams including technical team, PD team, admin team, security team as well as admission team are appreciated.
