The Department of English organized a seminar titled "Integrating Linguistics and Literature in Contemporary Research". Dr. Akhtar Abbas Associate Professor/HOD Department of English University of Sialkot and Dr. Muhammad Numan, Assistant Professor, University of Management and Technology, Lahore were the invited guest speakers. Dr. Akhtar Abbas delivered a talk on research in Corpus Linguistics and Dr. Numan spoke about modern research trends in Literary research. At the end, Chairperson Department of English Dr. Behzad Anwar thanked the guest speakers and the organizers Ms. Nazneen Zahra and Dr. Raza-E-Mustafa.

Muhammad Saad Jamil of MPhil English (Linguistics) successfully defended his thesis under the supervision of Dr. Raza E Mustafa.
Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Malik, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Chenab served as the external examiner.
Chairperson, UOG Department of English Dr. Behzad Anwar thanked Prof. Dr. Malik for sparing his time for the evaluation of the scholar.

An Orientation session was held for the newly admitted students of the Department of English to introduce them to the department and the faculty. Dr. Shamshad Rasool, conducted the orientation for BS programs while Dr. Raza E Mustafa conducted orientation of MPhil and PhD programs. Chairperson Dr. Behzad Anwar welcomed the newcomers and wished them a happy and fruitful stay at the Department of English. The students later visited the Student Services Center and received their gifts.

Dr. Junaid Mahmood, an alumnus of the Department of English, University of Gujrat, has assumed charge of the principal Govt. Graduate College, Tahlianwala Jhelum.
Dr. Junaid completed his MPhil in Literature from UOG in 2014. Despite being differently abled person, Dr. Junaid never allowed his physical challenges come in the way of his quest for knowledge. The Department of English is proud of its alumnus.
