Continuous Medical Education program at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad

On April 17, 2026, the section of Gastroenterology, Department of medicine at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad organized a cme program on "Role of Elobixibat in chronic constipation". The event aimed to promote understanding mechanisms of action and clinical use of this new drug in patients who are suffering with constipation from prolonged period.

The program was organized by prof. Prem Kumar Maheshwari , professor of Gastroenterology and hepatology. Dr. Amna batool Memon, postgraduates student , talked on the pathophysiology and treatment options for constipation. Dr. Prem kumar highlighted the importance of Elobixibat in chronic constipation.
The talk was concluded by insightful remarks of Prof. Muhammad Adnan Bawany, Chairman, Department of medicine and Prof. Muhammad Akbar Memon, Professor of Medicine.
The session was moderated efficiently by Dr. Syeda Alishba Zaidi, house officer at isra university hospital hyderabad.

*Alhamdulillah. Another successful free corneal transplant, restoring vision and bringing light back into a patient’s life.*

For a patient who had been living with severe vision impairment, this surgery marks more than a medical procedure. It marks the return of independence, confidence, and the ability to see loved ones and everyday life once again. Restoring sight means restoring connection, dignity, and hope.

This procedure was performed as part of the Free Eye Surgery Camp at Isra University Hospital, where advanced corneal transplant techniques, including the modern DMEK (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty) approach, are being introduced to make safer and more effective vision-restoring treatment accessible to deserving patients. Compared to conventional corneal transplant methods, this technique allows faster recovery and improved visual outcomes.

The initiative was led by Dr. Abdul Ahad Kazi, a renowned ophthalmology specialist from the United States, whose commitment to bringing world-class eye care to the local community continues to transform lives through such humanitarian efforts.

World Autism Awareness Day 2026 Observed at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad

On April 2, 2026, the Department of Psychiatry at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad, in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Foundation, organized an awareness program to mark World Autism Awareness Day. The initiative aimed to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of individuals with autism.

The event began with an awareness walk led by Prof. Dr. Sajjad Kazi, Director Isra University Hospital, along with Prof. Dr. Adnan Bawany, Dr. Fahad-ul-Zain, Dr. Qalb-e-Haider, and representatives from Al-Khidmat Foundation, symbolizing collective support for individuals with autism.

The formal session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Sana Zain, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, who emphasized the importance of awareness and early support for individuals and their families.

Isra University Hospital in Hyderabad recently reached a significant healthcare milestone by hosting a transformative free eye surgery camp that successfully introduced cutting-edge ophthalmological technology to the region.

For the first time in Hyderabad, the advanced DMEK (Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty) technique was utilized for cornea transplants. This modern, partial-thickness approach is far less invasive than traditional methods, ensuring faster recovery times and superior visual outcomes for patients.

The camp was led by Dr. Abdul Ahad Qazi, a renowned eye specialist from the USA, who brought global expertise to our local community. During the event, over 45 patients were examined, and complex procedures including Micro-Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) were performed entirely free of charge for those in need.

While these high-end surgeries are typically expensive and difficult to access abroad, Dr. Qazi emphasized that his mission is to serve the local community by providing world-class, sight-saving technology to those who need it most. Isra University Hyderabad organized an informative and engaging session on Postgraduate Education and Fellowship Opportunities in the USA on 26 March 2026, aimed at guiding students, graduates, and young professionals interested in pursuing advanced medical education and international career pathways. The resource person was Prof. Dr. Abdul Ahad Kazi, Director, Kazi Ophthalmology, Anniston, Alabama, USA, and Clinical Assistant Professor at Tulane University School of Medicine, USA.

The event was held at Asadullah Kazi Auditorium and commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Umer Kazi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Isra University Karachi Campus, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guest speaker and participants. He appreciated the guest speaker’s valuable contribution to academic excellence and professional mentorship. He emphasized the importance of global exposure, research involvement, and continuous professional development for healthcare professionals. He also acknowledged and appreciated the speaker’s effort in traveling from the USA to share his experiences and guide students on pathways to pursue medical careers abroad. The keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ahad Kazi, was honored with a traditional decoration ceremony in recognition of his distinguished services in the field of ophthalmology and medical education. He also emphasized the critical role of research publications, extracurricular involvement, and well-crafted personal statements in building a competitive residency application. Drawing from his own professional journey, he shared valuable insights on adapting to the US healthcare system, overcoming challenges, and maintaining perseverance throughout this highly competitive process. The session concluded with an interactive question and answer segment, where participants actively engaged and sought guidance on their individual career paths.

The session also featured Success Stories and Eye Camp Highlights presented by Prof. Dr. Asif Mashood Qazi, Chairperson, Department of Ophthalmology, highlighting the achievements and community service initiatives carried out through the Free Eye Camp in the month of Ramadan. Proud moment for Isra University Hospital Hyderabad as the Free Ramadan Eye Camp 2026 continues to transform lives.

The camp has been successfully inaugurated in collaboration with Isra Islamic Foundation and Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital.

So far, over 700 patients have been checked free of cost in the OPD, 124 patients have registered for cataract surgery, and 95 successful surgeries have already been performed. The initiative is providing free cataract surgeries, imported intraocular lenses, essential medicines, and eyeglasses to deserving patients.

People from across Sindh, including Nawabshah, Dadu, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan,Mirpurkhas, Matiari, and Hyderabad, are benefiting from this noble cause.

Ramadan Free Eye Camp Inaugurated at Isra University Hospital Hyderabad

Isra University Hospital, Hyderabad inaugurated its FREE RAMADAN EYE CAMP, in collaboration with Isra Islamic Foundation and Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital, Karachi.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi, Chancellor, Isra University and President & CEO, Isra Islamic Foundation and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, Vice Chancellor, Isra University.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hameedullah Kazi reaffirmed the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to accessible eye care and highlighted its collaboration with Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital, Karachi, since 1990.

Throughout Ramadan, the camp will provide free cataract surgeries, eyeglasses, imported intraocular lenses, and essential medicines for deserving patients.

The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Waliullah Kazi (Vice Chancellor), Prof. Dr. Umer Kazi (Pro Vice Chancellor), Dr. Asif M. Qazi (Chairperson, Department of Ophthalmology), along with faculty members and medical staff.
Cataract surgeries are being performed by Dr. Fahad Shaikh, Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Dr. Syed Jameel, and Dr. Asif M. Qazi. Within the first week, 80 successful surgeries were conducted.

Isra University Hospital Organizes Free Medical Camp at Rural Health Center, Sann

Isra University Hospital Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Rural Health Center (RHC) Sann, successfully organized a one-day free general medical camp with the objective of providing accessible and quality healthcare services to the local community. The initiative received an encouraging response, with a significant number of residents benefiting from specialized medical consultations and diagnostic facilities.

A team of experienced medical specialists participated in the camp to address a broad spectrum of healthcare needs. The panel included Professor Dr. Farhana Anjum (Gynecology), Dr. Saima Jatoi (Pulmonology, Asthma & Tuberculosis), Dr. Ahsan Rahim Memon (Gastroenterology & Liver Diseases), Surgeon Dr. Fahad Jatoi (Orthopedics), Dr. Javeria Memon (General Surgery), Dr. Amber Kashif (Family Medicine), Dr. Arshba (Pediatrics), Dr. Kashif and Dr. Arbaz (Dermatology), along with physiotherapy experts Dr. Aiman and Dr. Kainat.

The medical camp proved to be a vital healthcare intervention for the local population. Approximately 1,500 patients received free medical examinations and consultations. Patients were provided with complimentary medicines as prescribed by the attending doctors. In addition, diagnostic screening services were conducted, including tests for tuberculosis and diabetes, alongside free ultrasound facilities to support timely diagnosis.

The successful ex*****on of the camp was organized and supervised by the dedicated management team comprising Manager Israr Ahmed, Billing Incharge Abdul Waqar Kazi, Manager Ms. Mehwish Baloch, and Pharmacist Dr. Preet Raza.
