Vs fight and who will win?
I am Dr Suresh, a graduated doctor and from the very first medical university of Sindh, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.
I will try my best to be as logical as I could about truths of the superior official bodies.
First of all, pre-medical students are tensed regarding who will win? PMC or PMDC? and what impact that has on their graduation?
To answer that query, MCATIANS need to know why Imran Khan wants PMDC to be substituted by PMC??
What he says is that he wants our medical system to be like international systems where graduated doctors need to have hands on skills and mindset which obviously comes from NLE (an extra exam that now a graduated candiate has to pass to start his/her housejob) preparation.
Why doctors doesnt agree with him, is that they anyhow have to take FCPS exam, which makes them prepare for specialist skills, and taking NLE doesnt help them in their training, it just increases the number of exams a medical graduate need to take, nothing else.
Meanwhile PMC is also trying to make a national entry test system for entire country whereas provincial education differs alot individually. The purpose of making a national test is to make the national resources (medical seats) available to entire country, which is to say everyone will compete in the big race.
By that it means two things: firstly, they think every candidate in each province has same level of resources or they want those candidates to have same resources, whatever the reason be, they need to make provision of education a national system, a uniform platform from where same education is being provided to everyone.
secondly, they dont know how the education system operates in Sindh, if punjab students were to compete with Sindh students, their education system will win, because of many many socio-economic factors like internet, online educations systems, better textbooks, better teachers, quiz systems etcetera.
Hence making a national pre-entry system again makes it just a gesture of show off, that our nation is like others (UK and USA) and not so different than them.
What they instead need to do, is to improve the non-tangibles of an economy.
Make top line ( Surgeons and Physicians ) better and make their team and contribute with them to create a better health system with the integration of technology.
Then make bottom line better, which means character, and ethics set as priority in students of nursery and kindergarten, train teachers in that regards too.
Then make assessment system in entire education system stronger and corruptionless.
Thats how our nation will actually grow.
Apparently PMC and PMDC whichever wins, nation is going to lose.
Besides that, PMDC has been recognized by many countries as Pakistan's registration body, which means a trust is established in European countries and America etcetera that this is their body which makes doctors certified.
Changing name or existence of a body means a wave of untrustworthiness in other countries about the reliability of Pakistani Medical systems.
Which simply means, they would think about us that "if they cant sustain their certifying bodies and are changing it, how come they be having a sustained education and training system..."
These are facts which I have gathered about PMC and PMDC from expert resources.
Conclusion is simple, don't panic.
Dont spread negativity.
After all, these all are just damn exams, which our medical community will easily pass because I feel our medical community is the most hard worker community amongst all.
Best wishes for your Pre-entry and other exams ahead.
