It is with profound sorrow that Iqbal Chair, Bahria University announces the passing of Dr. Muhammad Abid Ali (Former Coordinator, Iqbal Chair) on 1st November 2025.

Dr. Abid Ali laid the very foundation of the Iqbal Chair and devoted his life to its vision. Through his tireless efforts, he organized some of the largest Iqbal Conferences and launched the HEC-recognized Y-category Research Journal on Iqbal Studies (BRJIS). His mission was to translate Iqbal’s Quranic philosophy into practical, implementable realities. He was working with Iqbal Chair till last days of his life.

Under his wise leadership, the Iqbal Chair hosted numerous pioneering initiatives such as:
🌿 The 2AI (Allama Iqbal & Artificial Intelligence)
🌿 Learn to Earn (workshops inspired by Iqbal’s concept of self-reliance)
🌿 Lost Chapters (women empowerment through Iqbal’s teachings)
🌿 Young Philosophers and many more — all centered on the applied dimensions of Iqbaliyaat.

Dr. Abid Ali was a distinguished academic, mentor, educationist and Iqbal scholar, whose integrity, vision, wisdom, pragmatic approach and devotion to Islam and Iqbal’s thought continue to inspire all who knew him.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, students, and colleagues.
May Allah Almighty grant him the highest ranks in Jannah and bless his soul with eternal peace. آمین.
