On 21 October 2026, a detailed meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Nisar Ali Khan, Department of Civil Engineering (DCE), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), to discuss arrangements and preparations for the upcoming mid-term examinations.

During the meeting, all faculty members and staff were strictly advised to comply with the rules, regulations, and guidelines established by the university and the department to ensure the smooth, transparent, and efficient conduct of the examinations.

Furthermore, various committees were assigned specific responsibilities and directed to complete their assigned tasks promptly and submit their reports to the Chairman’s Office.

The meeting emphasized coordination, discipline, and collective responsibility to ensure the successful conduct of the upcoming mid-term examinations.

The Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI),proudly participated in the 4th Edition of the Islamabad Science Festival, held on 15 October 2026 at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad.

Under the supervision of Dr. Nisar Ali Khan Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, the final-year students presented their innovative research project titled:

“Building a Sustainable Pakistan: Upcycling Construction & Demolition Waste into Structural Concrete for Green Infrastructure.”

The project was also selected for the Prime Minister’s Hum Hain Pakistan SDG Youth Campaign 2026 and highlights the department’s commitment to research excellence, sustainable engineering, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

🇸🇩🤝🇵🇰 Visit of the Sudanese Embassy Delegation to DCE

On 12 October 2026, a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan visited Dr. Nisar Ali Khan, Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering (DCE). The visit focused on exploring the department’s academic infrastructure, laboratory facilities, and admission opportunities for international students.

The meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss potential academic collaboration and strengthen educational ties between Pakistan and Sudan.

Alhamdulillah A Proud Achievement for the Department of Civil Engineering International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI)

During the tenure of Dr. Rashid Farooq as Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, and currently serving as Director ORIC, the department successfully completed two major accreditation visits.

🔹 Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC): Awarded the maximum 4-year accreditation for the B.Sc. Civil Engineering 4-year degree programme.

🔹 National Technology Council (NTC): Awarded the maximum 3-year accreditation, making the Department of Civil Engineering the first department to receive the maximum 3-year accreditation from NTC.

A Faculty and Staff Interaction Meeting was held on 23/09/2026 at the Department of Civil Engineering to discuss important academic and administrative issues faced by students, faculty, and staff during Fall 2026, under the leadership of the Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering.

The Chairman Prof.Dr. Nisar Ali Khan emphasized that students are the department’s first priority and that maintaining a professional academic environment is a collective responsibility. Faculty and staff were advised to give particular attention to the timely conduct of classes and laboratory sessions and to ensure strict adherence to the approved timetable and academic calendar.

The Chairman further emphasized a zero tolerance policy regarding delays, unauthorized changes, or noncompliance with scheduled class and laboratory timings. All faculty and staff were directed to strictly follow the timetable to ensure effective academic delivery and minimize inconvenience to students.

The Department of Civil Engineering successfully conducted a Graduate Research Committee (GRC) Meeting today under the esteemed leadership of Dr. Nisar Ali Khan, Chairperson, Department of Civil Engineering.

During the meeting, postgraduate research scholars presented their respective research topics and progress before the GRC. The committee members provided valuable guidance, constructive feedback, and academic recommendations to further strengthen the research work.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology successfully conducted the Orientation Session for Fall 2026 Freshmen Students today, welcoming the newly enrolled students and introducing them to the academic environment, departmental activities, facilities, and opportunities available throughout their educational journey.

The session was honored by the presence of Dean Professor Dr. Muhammad Amir, along with the Chairpersons of all respective departments, who warmly welcomed the incoming students and provided valuable guidance regarding academic excellence, professional development, university resources, and future career opportunities.

The orientation session was organized for the following departments under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology:

🔹 Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering
🔹 Department of Mechanical Engineering

From the Department of Civil Engineering, Chairperson Dr. Nisar Ali Khan addressed the newly admitted students and welcomed them to the department. He highlighted the importance of academic dedication, practical learning, research opportunities, professional ethics, and the skills required to become successful engineers in the future.

Following the orientation session, the freshmen students were warmly welcomed by their respective departments. They had the opportunity to interact with faculty members and explore their academic environment through guided tours of laboratories, classrooms, workshops, and other departmental facilities. These visits provided students with valuable insight into practical training, research facilities, and the learning resources available within their departments.
