The foundation of the Islamic University , Islamabad was laid on the first day of the fifteenth century Hijrah i.e. This landmark of the beginning of the new Century symbolizes the aspirations and hopes of the Muslim Ummah for an Islamic renaissance. The desire to produce scholar and practitioners, imbued with Islamic Learning, character and personality, and capable to meet the economic, social, political, technological and intellectual needs of the Muslim Ummah was the reason deter of this University. The University is located around the domineering Faisal Mosque, a symbol of International Islamic brotherhood and unity. The Mosque is spread over an area of 189,705 square meters.

IRI Concludes Four-Day Postgraduate Workshop on Research Methodology 2026

The Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), concluded its four-day Postgraduate Workshop on Research Methodology 2026, held from September 14 to 17, with the participation of 75 MS/MPhil and PhD scholars. The workshop focused on contemporary research methodologies, research ethics, qualitative and quantitative approaches, proposal development, academic databases, citation management, ethical use of AI, and research impact and dissemination. The initiative aimed to strengthen researchers’ capabilities and promote academic rigor and integrity by integrating traditional Islamic epistemology with modern research paradigms.

IIUI Holds Governing Council Meeting of IRD

The Governing Council of the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), met at the Faisal Masjid Campus under the chairmanship of IIUI President and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairperson of the Academy of Letters; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President, R&E, IIUI; Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jamil, Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan; Prof. Dr. Salim Mazhar, Director General of the National Language Promotion Department (Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban); Mr. Nasir Farid, Additional Director, IIUI; and Mr. Muhammad Younus, Incharge Publications, IRD.

The Council reviewed the Institute's profile, its past performance and its forthcoming strategic plan. Members offered valuable suggestions on strengthening the Institute's functioning and development, and on expanding its academic and international role, and provided guidance in setting its future priorities.

Career Abroad as a Psychologist: IIUI Psychology Department Organizes Career Guidance Seminar

ICT&S Organizes Lecture on Fire Safety and Preventive Measures

Mr. Aqeel Alam Khattak, District Officer, Civil Defence, delivered the informative lecture and provided practical guidance on handling fire emergencies and using fire-extinguishing techniques. DBS Students Visit National Assembly to Learn About Parliamentary System

The Department of Biological Sciences (DBS), IIUI, in collaboration with the Pakistan Biotechnology Students’ Society IIUI, organized an educational visit to the National Assembly of Pakistan for students from both male and female sections. Accompanied by Chairperson DBS Dr. Asma Gul, Director, DGS Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Dr. Imran Shabbir, Dr. Zafeer Saqib and Dr. Haleema Sadia, the students gained practical exposure to Pakistan’s parliamentary system, democratic institutions and civic processes.

Shariʻah Academy Council Holds Inaugural Meeting at IIUI

The newly reconstituted Council of the Shariʻah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), held its inaugural meeting at the Dr. Hassan Hamid Hussain Seminar Room, chaired by IIUI President and Chairman Shariʻah Academy Council Prof. Dr. Ahmed bin Saad Al-Ahmed. The meeting reviewed the Academy’s academic, research, training and outreach activities, with Director General Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram presenting its institutional objectives and proposed future roadmap. Council members discussed a range of recommendations, including new courses in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Law, expansion of digital outreach and the Fellowship programme, judicial training, institutional self-financing, and initiatives relating to Riba and Islamic banking. The Council unanimously agreed to incorporate the recommendations into the Academy’s future framework, which will be presented to the University’s relevant statutory authorities for final approval. Turkish Higher Education Delegation Visits Faisal Mosque in Islamabad

A high-level Turkish academic delegation led by YÖK President Professor Dr. Erol Özvar visited Faisal Mosque, Islamabad, during a visit hosted by HEC. Accompanied by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Irfan Nazir Oğlu, the delegation was briefed on the mosque’s historical and religious significance, its unique architecture, and the academic and research services of the Dawah Academy and International Islamic University Islamabad. The delegation appreciated Faisal Mosque’s magnificent architecture and expressed hope for stronger academic, research and scholarly cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.

Awareness Session on SDGs and "Hum Hain Pakistan" Project Held at IIUI

An awareness session on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the "Hum Hain Pakistan" Project was organized on campus for male students from all disciplines, as part of the University's ongoing awareness campaign on these initiatives.

The session was led by the Focal Person for SDGs, Prof. Dr. Noor Fatima, along with her team members Dr. Ghufran Ahmed and Dr. Inam Ullah Jan.

The speakers elaborated on the objectives of the SDGs and the vision of the "Hum Hain Pakistan" Project, highlighting how the two can be aligned and integrated to foster national unity, responsible citizenship, and sustainable development among the youth.

The session proved highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from the students, who found it both informative and engaging.
