IIUI holds orientation programme for newly appointed faculty

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has commenced a five-day orientation programme for newly appointed faculty members, organised by the Office of Professional Trainings. The programme introduces faculty members to IIUI’s vision, governance, academic policies, teaching and research environment, career development, quality assurance, institutional systems and professional responsibilities. Senior university leadership, including Vice Presidents, also addressed the newly appointed faculty and highlighted academic excellence, institutional values, professional growth, diversity and their role in contributing to the University’s academic and strategic development. The opening sessions also covered University statutes, faculty appraisal and promotion criteria, career planning and service procedures, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session on leave rules and related matters.

IIUI Clarifies Facts Regarding News about Vice Presidents’ Selection Process presented with Concocted Facts

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has taken serious notice of reports carried by certain sections of the press regarding the process for the selection and appointment of Vice Presidents of the University. IIUI considers it necessary to place the facts on record, as some assertions contained in these reports present an incomplete and distorted picture of both the University's prescribed procedure and the proceedings before the Islamabad High Court.
The University categorically clarifies that the entire selection process was undertaken in accordance with the applicable provisions of the IIUI Ordinance-1985 and the prescribed procedure in a fair and transparent manner duly approved by the competent forum i.e. the Board of Governors.
It is clarified that no adverse order or findings have been passed against IIUI by the Islamabad High Court regarding the appointments in question and the official notice has not yet been issued to the University as yet. While issuance of a notice or seeking any clarifications is part of the normal judicial process on the first date of hearing, which was unjustly portrayed as a judicial finding of illegality or procedural impropriety against the University and its administration with intended design to defame them by the ex-Legal Advisor of the university ─ who was removed pursuant to the directives of the Supreme Court in Constitution Petition No. 7 of 2024 ─ and his associates (as reported in different news items). He has been continuously defaming the University after his removal.
This significant background has not been adequately reflected in the reports currently being circulated and the official Spokesperson of IIUI was not contacted before publication of the original report for verification, clarification or the University's version, which is against the basic standards of accuracy, balance and responsible journalism.
The International Islamic University Islamabad remains fully committed to transparency, institutional integrity and has complete confidence in the legal process. While it reserves all its legal rights including the rights provided under defamation laws, damages and other measures against the responsible elements who are defaming the university as a whole for their personal benefits.

Shari‘ah Academy Organizes Four-Day Orientation Course on Family Law in Islam for Lawyers

The Shari‘ah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a four-day orientation course on Family Law in Islam for Lawyers, focusing on contemporary family-related legal issues and their application in Pakistan. The course covered marriage, divorce, khula, child custody and inheritance, besides examining leading judgments of the higher judiciary and the historical development of personal law in Pakistan. A panel of experts, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General, Shari‘ah Academy, and other scholars and legal practitioners, delivered lectures and engaged with participants on various aspects of Islamic family law. Participants appreciated the course for strengthening their understanding of Islamic legal principles and their practical application. Speaking at the concluding session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram said the Academy would continue organizing specialized programmes on contemporary legal and Shari‘ah-related issues for lawyers and other professionals.

The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST-NUCES), Islamabad Campus, organized a futsal event to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day, bringing together Pakistani and international students from Thailand, Somalia and Afghanistan.
Organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs (M), IIUI, the event sought to promote friendship, cultural exchange and international brotherhood while highlighting the values of peace, harmony, teamwork and sportsmanship through sports.

IIUI Research Excellence Incentive Framework bears fruit; 331 high-quality publications recorded for 2025

On the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day, the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) proudly announces that 105 faculty members produced 331 ranking-relevant research publications during 2025 under the IIUI Research Excellence Incentive Framework. Launched by President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, the initiative was supported by Rs. 4.83 million secured through his efforts with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Working under the President’s leadership, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research and Enterprise), guided its implementation, while Prof. Dr. Rashid Farooq, Director ORIC, coordinated the submission and review process. The Faculty of Sciences led with 221 publications, while eight faculty members reached the incentive cap of Rs. 150,000. Dr. Ahmed Zeeshan, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Dr. Robina Khan Niazi and Dr. Rahmat Ellahi of the Faculty of Sciences, along with Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed of CAEPE, produced the highest numbers of W-category publications. Expressing pride in the researchers’ achievement, the President IIUI will distribute the prizes among them.
