Dr. Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector RIC called on the leads of NAA Pakistan and International Chapters, where he was briefed on the successful completion of NUST Alumni Lifeline Campaign 2026 by Dr. Sohail Sarwar (Former President NAA) and team.
Through the collective efforts of NUST Alumni family, the campaign successfully facilitated 87 financially challenged students with one-year hostel accommodation support, raising a total contribution of PKR 1,65,16,340 — One Crore Sixty-Five Lac Sixteen Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Rupees (PKR 16.52 Million).
This campaign was a continuation of NUST Alumni Lifeline Campaign 2025, in which NUST Alumni fraternity contributed PKR 1,33,73,000 — One Crore Thirty Three Lac Seventy Three Thousand (PKR 13.37 Million) for Hostel support of 59 x financially challenged students. Through NUST Alumni Lifeline Campaign, Alumni were able to provide Hostel accommodation support to 146 students during year 2025/2026.
It was highlighted that NUST Alumni fraternity contributed PKR 6,500,000 for flood relief, including ration supplies for 1250 x families in 12 different cities across KPK/Punjab, adversely affected by floods of 2025.
NUST Alumni also initiated project PATH (Poverty Alleviation Through Higher Education) with Akhuwat Foundation to train and prepare their college students for entrance test of Tier 1 Engineering Universities of Pakistan. 145 students qualified for admission in Engineering Universities including NUST, GIKI, FAST and LUMS. Alumni community contributed PKR 2 Million to support logistics and admission fee of Akhuwat students.
Alumni facilitated MOU's between top Universities and Akhuwat Foundation to ensure uninterrupted financial assistance for deserving Akhuwat students throughout their degree program.
Hence, a total of PKR 3,83,89,340 — Three Crore Eighty-Three Lac Eighty-Nine Thousand Three Hundred and Forty Rupees (PKR 38.39 Million) was collectively contributed by members of NUST Alumni community during 2025–26.
Special appreciation was extended by Dr. Rizwan Riaz to the Presidents and leads of NUST Alumni Chapters in companionship of Dr. Sohail Sarwar for their outstanding contributions, particularly:
Mr. Umar Azad, Mr. Khurrum Makhdoom leading Team NAA-Pakistan,
Mr. Haroon Raees leading Team NAA-UAE,
Mr. Usman Aurakzai leading Team NAA-UK,
Mr. Ahmed Rasool leading Team NAA-KSA,
Mr. Irtiza Ali leading Team NAA-Germany and
Mr. Zulqarnain Gillani leading Team NAA-Australia.
The unconditional support and commitment of NUST Team/Offices towards alumni initiatives was also appreciated esp: Mr. Nasir Saeed (Deputy Director, NUST Hostels Directorate) for ensuring transparency and timely facilitation and Ms Arooba Gillani (Director UAO) and her team for their coordination throughout the course of Alumni led campaigns.
Dr. Rizwan Riaz appreciated the generosity and giving-back spirit of NUST Alumni family while emphasizing that such campaigns should continue to help bridge the widening scholarship gap caused by rising inflation index. He highlighted that alumni should support student placements, aligning them with emerging industry trends and promoting international research collaborations for a better NUST and Pakistan.
