Over the years, the NUST has been making a tremendous effort to connect with its graduates and provide a uniform platform, whereby alumni can stay in touch with their alma mater. We aim to take our alumni, who are well placed in the job market and are more than ready to join hands with NUST, to rejuvenate the alumni office as previously, the proper infrastructure and resources were absent. NUST appreciates all the independent alumni chapters which have been working and contributing towards the university development since their inception. In order to reconnect with our alma mater, to provide a launching pad and support their activities, we invite all our alumni to please join NUST Alumni Network and make our alumni network one of the best in the world.

Congratulations to Khawaja Abdul Raffay (CEME, 2026) on being awarded the SRD-I Scholarship (Scholarship for Research & Development) under the prestigious BK21 (Brain Korea 21) Program, funded by the Government of South Korea. He has commenced an integrated MS-PhD program at the Department of Mechanical, Robotics and Energy Engineering, Dongguk University, Seoul, where he is conducting research at the Computational Mechanics and Design (CMND) Lab under the supervision of Professor Jaehun Lee. The five-year scholarship covers his full tuition fee and provides a monthly research stipend. As a BE Mechatronics Engineering (Robotics) graduate from NUST CEME (Batch 2022–2026), Raffay carries this achievement forward as a proud representative of NUST on an international research platform. We wish him continued success in his academic and research journey.

We are pleased to celebrate the remarkable achievement of M. Waleed Ahmad Khan (NIT, 2025) on being selected for the prestigious Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship 2026 to pursue a PhD in Civil Engineering at The University of Tokyo, Japan.

His doctoral research will focus on earthquake engineering, structural resilience, disaster management, and the seismic safety of infrastructure, building on his academic work in seismic strengthening and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete bridge piers.

During his MS at NUST, Waleed conducted research on the seismic retrofitting of deficient RC bridge piers using high-strength performance concrete jacketing and FRP reinforcement, resulting in a publication in the Journal of Engineering Science and Technology.

With over five years of professional experience in structural engineering, construction, project management, and infrastructure development, he has contributed to major infrastructure projects, including the Mohmand Dam Project, and currently serves as Assistant Director (Technical), Pakistan Air Force, Directorate of Housing.

Another inspiring journey begins as Muhammad Moaaz Munir, (MCE 2016) NUST alumnus, takes the next step in his academic career with a fully funded PhD Assistantship in Planning, Design and Construction at the University of Oklahoma, USA. As he begins his PhD at the University of Oklahoma in Fall 2026, we congratulate him on this achievement and look forward to seeing the impact of his work in the field of construction and beyond.

Muhammad Umer Khan (USPCASE 2019), a NUST alumnus making meaningful contributions to Pakistan’s power sector. Currently serving as Joint Director (Planning & Procurement) at the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Ministry of Energy (Power Division), he has been part of Pakistan’s electricity market reform journey, contributing to the operationalization of CTBCM, the country’s first competitive wholesale electricity market. In his current role, he is contributing to the planning and competitive procurement of new power generation capacity for DISCOs, supporting the development of a more competitive and efficient power sector. His journey reflects the expertise, impact, and leadership of NUST alumni in advancing Pakistan’s energy landscape.

Pro-Rector RIC NUST, Dr Rizwan Riaz, during his official visit to Germany at the invitation of DAAD, met with Irtiza Ali (MCS ’98), President, NUST Alumni Germany Chapter.

The meeting focused on strengthening alumni collaboration and exploring new opportunities for engagement. Discussions included the role of the NUST Alumni Germany Chapter in developing industrial linkages, helping students learn about state-of-the-art technologies and industry practices, and supporting NUST through teaching assignments, expert sessions, and other academic activities.

Through such engagements, NUST alumni continue to connect the university with industry, knowledge, and opportunities around the world, creating greater opportunities for our students and the wider NUST community.

Roha Nadeem (S3H, 2019) visited the NUST as an invited alumna for an Alumni Talk during Orientation 2026. She shared her journey at NUST and highlighted the opportunities and experiences that played a significant role in shaping her personal and professional growth. During her talk, She motivated the newly enrolled students to believe in themselves, overcome barriers, and make the most of the opportunities available to them at NUST. She encouraged students to remain resilient and pursue their goals with confidence.Following the session, she met with Director Advancement, Ms. Arooba Gillani, where they discussed alumni relations and opportunities for strengthening alumni engagement and collaboration with NUST.
