PLS Debating Chapter (PDC) has been working hard for the nourishment of the different public speaking skills in its members since its formation in 2009. The original name of PDC was PIEAS Debating Society (PDS) but it was changed after all the major individually running societies of PIEAS were merged into the PIEAS Literary Society (PLS) in 2021. PDC, in it’s life of over a decade, has taken part

in numerous external events as well as held a myriad internal ones, and brought back a whole lot of awards

The beginning of an era - PLS Debating Chapter(PDC) , initially known as the PIEAS Debating Society (PDS), was founded by Faisal Fateh in 2009. Before PDS, the only society that existed in PIEAS was the literary society, and all the major events and domains (such as debating and media) were a part of it. But Faisal believed that the public speaking domain wasn’t given the spotlight it deserved and therefore, founded PDS to give a single platform to all those skilled and eager students to help them bring-out their inner speaker. This gave the students a chance to go to different events and perform in public speaking competitions, which they weren’t able to do to this extent before. Although PLS expedition had an all-Pakistan declamations event, it still couldn’t bring a good amount of highly-qualified speakers from all over the country but the students needed a better environment, solely for the purpose to groom their public speaking skills. Therefore, PDS came out as a separate society to deal with the matters of public speaking and all of its domains, including debates and declamations. After the hard work of the president and the society members, PDC was able to hold a major event, named as ‘PIEAS Debating Championship (PDC)’ in 2011, in which they were able to bring around 60 speakers from all over Pakistan. This event was unlike any other event PIEAS had ever seen, and students and participants from all over the country would come and show-off their talents of public speaking and performing arts. The Presidents of PDC - since its formation in 2009:
 Mr. Faisal Fateh - (2009 - 2011)
 Mr. Bilal Baber - (2011 - 2012)
 Mr. Zubair Ahmer - (2012 - 2013)

 Mr. Afroz Khan Ghauri - (2017 - 2018)
 Mr. Shah Hassan - (2018 - 2019)
 Ms. Musfirah Ehsan - (2019 - 2020)

These include “Allama Iqbal Shield Declamation Competition”, Internal Parliamentary Debates Competitions, Workshops for MUNs, Debates, and Declamations, “Unpopular Opinions”, and also all-Pakistan events, “PNA (Pakistan National Assembly”, and some “APDCs (All-Pakistan Declamation Contests)”. PDC is open to any positive and healthy collaboration. Together, we can plan and organize events, and build ever lasting bonds and connections which will foster our growth, as an individual and as a society.
