Under the GOAL: Bridging Technical Assistance for Governments (B-TAG) Programme, supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), I-SAPS, in collaboration with SED Punjab and PECTAA, is set to launch the Matric-Tech Teacher Capacity Building Programme in Punjab. This initiative is evidence-based and focused on specific streams, aiming to convert classroom experiences into practical, scalable, and institutionally endorsed training resources.
🎯This milestone marks the completion of a comprehensive reform cycle, which has progressed from reviewing teacher preparedness to developing a scalable capacity-building model that supports sustained system strengthening.

When it comes to analysing expenditure on education in Pakistan, the public sector remains at the heart of most inquiry and discourse.

However, the rapid expansion of the private sector has necessitated that it also be brought into the larger conversation about education finance.

For our analysis in this year's "Financing of Education in Pakistan" report, I-SAPS has calculated and aggregated the amount parents spend on private education, tuitions as well as their out of pocket spend.

Our study reveals that parents now spend more than the government on education in Pakistan.

We celebrated 15 years of compiling, analysing and publishing statistics on education finance in Pakistan by formally launching this year's report.

In keeping with our pioneering tradition of always bringing in new and important areas of discussion into the larger conversation about education sector reforms, I-SAPS has included detailed sections about what families spend on private education as well as on tuitions.

There has been a concerning trend in the education sector of Pakistan. Although education spending is increasing, learning outcomes are not getting better.

The education system as a whole is struggling to translate increased resources into better results. This requires a deeper examination of how the education system works and where it needs reform.

For decades, the conversation around education finance has focused almost entirely on the public sector. But with private spending now making up a massive part of the total expenditure, it’s time to change the narrative.

In a first in our 15-year history of reporting, compiling and analysing education finance statistics, I-SAPS is pulling back the curtain on the private education sector and is analyzing everything from household tuition costs to out-of-pocket spending.

Despite increasing allocations to education each year, desired outcomes remain elusive.
This indicates that the challenge is not merely one of funding but of inefficient allocation and utilisation of resources.
For the past 15 years, I-SAPS has collected and analysed education finance data at the federal, provincial and district levels to support stakeholders in making informed decisions for improved learning outcomes.

The roundtable brought together senior representatives from federal and provincial governments, the private sector, banking and non-banking financial entities, and the development sector, highlighting a shared commitment to addressing persistent financing gaps in education.
The roundtable, convened as part of the GOAL: Bridging Technical Assistance for Governments (B-TAG) programme, supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), represented a significant step forward in enhancing stakeholder engagement on innovative financing approaches for education.
