Department of Pakistan Studies, NUML Islamabad Pakistan Pakistan Studies is an inter-disciplinary subject and encompasses many fields of knowledge.

The aim of Pakistan Studies is to introduce students to a comprehensive and conceptual interdisciplinary knowledge about Pakistan. The programme corers all major dimensions of the interdisciplinary approach of studying the areas and region. It provides better understanding of the factors leading to the creation of Pakistan while appreciating various aspects of its history, ideology, culture, geogr

aphy, politics, economy, its strategic position and part being played by it in regional and international affairs. The analytical approach based on reasons as well as empirical realities of the issues, all, are the methods of investigation. Curriculum of Pakistan Studies has also been designated to inculcate a sense of gratitude to the All India Muslim League for their struggle to achieve an independent and sovereign state for the Muslim of the Indo-Pak subcontinent. The Department is also teaching the compulsory course of Pakistan Studies at Graduate level in the faculties of IT and Engineering, Management Science, English, Social Science etc. Since the establishment of the Department of Pakistan Studies at the National University of Modern Languages in 2004, nearly 15 batches have been graduated.

The Department of Pakistan Studies at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) recently hosted an insightful seminar focused on "Women’s Empowerment through the Right of Inheritance," featuring a keynote address by the esteemed Dr. Munnaza Mubarak. She discussed in detail the Prevention of Anti-Women Practices Act and the role of the Enforcement of Women's Property Rights Act. How securing inheritance leads to improved decision-making power and financial security for women. The role of universities in sensitizing the youth toward equitable distribution of assets.

Department of Pakistan Studies, faculty of Social Sciences NUML conducted a Seminar in connection with death anniversary of great poet, philosopher Allama Muhammed Iqbal at Salam Block main auditorium..... Renowned scholar and expert on Allama Iqbal Dr. Rashid Hameed , Director General Academy of Letters Islamaabad, elaborated various scholarly shades of Iqbal's philosophy, poetry and religious thoughts. He expressed his views about the role of Iqbal for the identification of Muslims nationalism in South Asia. Pro-Rector academics Prof. Dr. Muhammed Safeer Awan expressed comprehensive and thought provoking views about the philosophy and literally work of Iqbal, in his concluding address. He advised the students to read Iqbal for their intellectual understanding. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Riaz Shad DEAN Faculty of Social Sciences also attended the seminar. Hanooq Ahemad a student of Pakistan Studies department presented the verses from the poetry of Iqbal. The event was hosted by Dr. Munnaza Mubarak and Dr. Muhammed Shoaib Malik HOD Pakistan Studies, faculty members, and a large number of students from various departments attended the seminar.

Department of Pakistan studies-NUML Hosts a one day Conference on “Tajdeed-e-Ehad-e- Pakistan” to Reaffirm/reflect on national unity and commitment.

Speakers, including Prof. Khursheed Nadeem (Chairman, Rehmat-al-Almeen Authority), Dr. Khalid Rehman (Chairman, Institute of Policy Studies), and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia Ul Haq (Director General, Islamic Research Center, IIUI), emphasized self-reflection, combating misinformation, and empowering youth for nation-building. Rector NUML, Maj Gen (Retd) Shahid Mahmood Kayani HI (M) reaffirmed that March 23rd is a day of renewal and commitment to Pakistan’s progress.

The event served as a powerful reminder of our founding principles ; unity, resilience, and a vision for a stronger Pakistan.

Ms. Shamreeza Tariq Aziz has successfully defended her thesis titled “Tourism and Sustainable Development in Baluchistan (2015-2023)” under the supervision of Dr. Fazal Rabbi, Associate Professor, Department of Pakistan Studies. The thesis defense session was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz Shad, and was attended by distinguished scholars, including Dr. Shoaib Maik, Dr. Hassan (external examiner from Quaid-e-Azam University), and Dr. Munnaza Mubarak, the M.Phil/Ph.D. Coordinator.

The research committee highly appreciated the scholarly contribution of Ms. Shamreeza Tariq Aziz. Her work offers significant insights into the role of tourism in fostering sustainable development in Baluchistan during the period 2015–2023. The committee expressed hope that as a scholar hailing from Gwadar, Ms. Aziz will actively contribute to the socio-economic development of Baluchistan in particular, and Pakistan in general, in the years to come.
