SMIU Hosts Guest Lecture on AI Governance and the Future of Accounting & Finance
Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), through its Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance, organized an insightful guest lecture titled “Navigating AI: Probabilistic Models, Governance, and Frameworks in Accounting & Finance” at Quaid-e-Azam Hall, 2nd Floor, Talpur House, SMIU.
The session featured Mr. Hasan Zaidi, CPA, FCCA, Head of Revenue Accounting at Rippling and former Director at PwC National Office, San Francisco Bay Area, USA. Drawing on his international professional experience and exposure to Silicon Valley finance teams, Mr. Zaidi shared practical insights into the intersection of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and financial precision, with particular emphasis on AI governance and practical frameworks for deploying AI in modern accounting and finance functions.
The lecture provided students with a valuable opportunity to understand how AI is transforming financial operations and how organizations can adopt emerging technologies while maintaining accuracy, accountability, and effective governance.
The session was moderated by Rameen Ayubi, a fifth-semester student of the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance, who introduced the guest speaker and facilitated the proceedings.
Students from the Departments of Accounting, Banking and Finance and Business Administration attended the session. Faculty members present included Ms. Quratulain Nazeer, Head of the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance; Mr. Muhammad Danish Mujtaba; Mr. Muzaffar Ali Shah; and Mr. Shafique Ahmed.
At the conclusion of the programme, Ms. Quratulain Nazeer delivered the vote of thanks and presented a souvenir to Mr. Hasan Zaidi on behalf of the department and the university in recognition of his valuable contribution.
The session reflected SMIU’s commitment to connecting academic learning with global industry expertise and preparing students for the evolving demands of technology-driven professional environments.
