Addressing the deans, heads of various academic and administrative departments, officers, staff, and students participating in the “Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir” rally at Sindh Madressatul Islam University on August 5, 2026, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai spoke at length about the atrocities and injustices committed by Indian forces against the Kashmiris and, while strongly condemning the revocation of the autonomous status of occupied Kashmir under Article 370 by India, stated that the extent of the oppression India is inflicting upon the oppressed people of Kashmir is beyond description.
He proposed the formation of a think tank of academia of the country, from schools, colleges to the universities, to deliberate on what can be done for the Kashmiris and how they can be assisted. In this regard, the proposed think tank could offer recommendations and solutions across various sectors, including strategic affairs, education, health, defense, and the environment etc. Furthermore, it could serve as a global voice for the Kashmiris, raising awareness among the international academic community and professionals from other fields about their right to self-determination, the situation in occupied Kashmir, and the atrocities being committed against the Kashmiri people by India forces.
