سیرتِ رسول اکرم ﷺ انسانیت کے لیے مکمل اسوہ اور عملی رہنمائی ہے، پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل

جامعہ کراچی کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل نے کہا ہے کہ سیرتِ رسول محض تاریخ کا ایک باب نہیں بلکہ پوری انسانیت کے لیے زندگی گزارنے کا مکمل اسوہ اور عملی رہنمائی ہے۔ موجودہ دور میں جب دنیا غیر معمولی سائنسی و تکنیکی ترقی کے باوجود اخلاقی بحران، عدم برداشت، نفرت، انتہاپسندی، انتشار اور باہمی عدم اعتماد جیسے مسائل سے دوچار ہے، ایسے حالات میں سیرتِ طیبہ کی اہمیت پہلے سے کہیں زیادہ بڑھ گئی ہے۔

ان خیالات کا اظہار انہوں نے آج بروز جمعرات انجمن اساتذہ جامعہ کراچی اورنیشنل رحمتُ اللعالمین و خاتم النبیین اتھارٹی، حکومتِ پاکستان کے زیر اہتمام آڈیو ویژول سینٹر جامعہ کراچی میں سیرتِ طیبہ ﷺ کے موضوع پر منعقدہ سیمینار کی صدارت کرتے ہوئے کیا۔ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل نے کہا کہ سیرتِ رسول جیسے ہمیشہ زندہ اور بامقصد موضوع پر علمی سیمینار کی صدارت کرنا ان کے لیے باعثِ مسرت بھی ہے اور باعثِ سعادت بھی۔ انہوں نے سیمینار کے منتظمین کو مبارکباد پیش کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ایسے علمی و فکری پروگرام نئی نسل کو اسوۂ حسنہ سے روشناس کرانے میں اہم کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ قرآنِ مجید نے رسول اکرم کی ذاتِ اقدس کو ہمارے لیے بہترین نمونہ قرار دیتے ہوئے واضح فرمایا ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کی زندگی میں ہمارے لیے بہترین اسوہ موجود ہے۔ آج دنیا علم، ٹیکنالوجی اور مصنوعی ذہانت کے میدان میں غیر معمولی رفتار سے ترقی کر رہی ہے، تاہم اس ترقی کے ساتھ انسان کو اخلاقی و معاشرتی بحرانوں کا بھی سامنا ہے۔

وائس چانسلر نے کہا کہ رسول اکرم ﷺ نے قیادت کا ایسا مثالی تصور پیش کیا جس کی بنیاد اقتدار پر نہیں بلکہ کردار، خدمت، عدل، مشاورت، رحمت اور ذمہ داری پر قائم تھی۔ آپ ﷺ کی قیادت میں کمزوروں کو تحفظ ملا، مخالفین کے ساتھ بھی انصاف کیا گیا اور فتح کے موقع پر انتقام کے بجائے عفو و درگزر کا مظاہرہ کیا گیا۔

انہوں نے فتحِ مکہ کے واقعے کو تاریخِ انسانی کی ایک عظیم مثال قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ جن لوگوں نے رسول اکرم ﷺ اور آپ کے صحابہ کرام کو شدید تکالیف پہنچائیں، جب وہ فتح کے موقع پر آپ ﷺ کے سامنے بے بس کھڑے تھے تو آپ ﷺ نے انتقام لینے کے بجائے عام معافی کا اعلان فرمایا۔ یہ واقعہ ہمیں رحمت، برداشت، عفو و درگزر اور اعلیٰ اخلاق کا عظیم درس دیتا ہے۔

پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد طفیل نے کہا کہ آج ہماری جامعات، اداروں، تنظیموں اور پورے معاشرے کو ایسی قیادت کی ضرورت ہے جو عہدے کو اعزاز نہیں بلکہ امانت سمجھے اور اپنے منصب کو خدمت، انصاف، دیانت اور ذمہ داری کے اصولوں کے مطابق ادا کرے۔ سیرتِ رسول اکرم ﷺ ہمارے لیے ایک ایسی ہی مثالی قیادت اور معاشرتی کردار کا جامع نمونہ پیش کرتی ہے۔

ممبر نیشنل رحمتُ اللعالمین و خاتم النبیین اتھارٹی، حکومتِ پاکستان، ڈاکٹر سید عزیز الرحمن نے کہا ہے کہ موجودہ حالات میں پاکستان کو تنازعات کے حل (Conflict Resolution) کے مؤثر نظام کی اشد ضرورت ہے، جس کے لیے اسلامی تعلیمات اور سیرتِ طیبہ سے رہنمائی حاصل کی جانی چاہیے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ معاشرے میں پیدا ہونے والے مسائل کو محلے اور مساجد کی سطح پر باہمی مشاورت، افہام و تفہیم اور اسلامی اصولوں کے مطابق حل کرنے کی ضرورت ہے، کیونکہ دینِ اسلام میں باہمی تنازعات کے پرامن حل کو خصوصی اہمیت حاصل ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ سیرتِ طیبہ ہمیں یہ سبق دیتی ہے کہ قیادت کا اصل معیار عہدہ، شہرت یا اختیار نہیں بلکہ امانت، دیانت اور انسانوں کے لیے خیرخواہی ہے۔ جامعہ کراچی ایک عظیم علمی درسگاہ ہے اور ہم سب کی ذمہ داری ہے کہ طلبہ کو صرف ڈگریوں کے حصول تک محدود نہ رکھا جائے بلکہ انہیں علم کے ساتھ کردار، اخلاق اور ذمہ داری کا شعور بھی دیا جائے۔

ڈائریکٹر جنرل سیرت انسائیکلوپیڈیا پروجیکٹ ڈاکٹر حبیب الرحمن نے عالمی تناظر میں تنازعات اور ان کے اثرات پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے ایران، امریکا اور عرب دنیا میں جاری کشیدگی اور جنگی صورتحال کے مختلف پہلوؤں پر اپنے خیالات کا اظہار کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں ایسے نوجوان تیار کرنے ہوں گے جو ذہین اور ذمہ دار ہونے کے ساتھ ساتھ جدید علوم سے آگاہ اور اپنی تہذیبی و اخلاقی اقدار سے بھی مضبوطی سے وابستہ ہوں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ رسولِ اکرم ﷺ کی سیرت ہمیں علم اور عمل کے درمیان مضبوط تعلق قائم کرنے کا درس دیتی ہے۔ ایسا معاشرہ جہاں علم تو ہو مگر اخلاق نہ ہو، ترقی تو ہو مگر انصاف نہ ہو، اور وسائل تو ہوں مگر انسانیت نہ ہو، حقیقی معنوں میں ترقی یافتہ معاشرہ نہیں کہلا سکتا۔

صدر انجمنِ اساتذہ جامعہ کراچی سید غفران عالم نے کہا کہ اگر ہم سیرتِ طیبہ پر حقیقی معنوں میں عمل پیرا ہوجائیں تو ہمارے بیشتر مسائل حل ہوسکتے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمارے معاشرے میں بہت سے مسائل قول و فعل کے تضاد اور مفادات کے ٹکراؤ (Conflict of Interest) کے باعث پیدا ہوتے ہیں۔ ہم گفتگو میں بہت خوبصورت باتیں کرتے ہیں، لیکن ان پر عملی طور پر عمل درآمد کرنے میں ناکام رہتے ہیں۔ ضرورت اس امر کی ہے کہ سیرتِ طیبہ کی تعلیمات کو محض تقریروں تک محدود رکھنے کے بجائے اپنی عملی زندگی کا حصہ بنایا جائے۔

Students from the Centre of Excellence for Women's Studies University of Karachi visited the Provincial Ombudsman for Harassment at Work Place, Government of Sindh Office and attended a detailed training session on the Harassment at work place conducted by Ms. Zainab Shah Assistant Director and trainer.

The session was very informative and provided the practical knowledge about workplace harassment including how and where to file complaint, available legal mechanisms and ways to cope with and respond to such situations students were also rewarded certificates in recognition of their participation.

The Department of Microbiology at the University of Karachi, in collaboration with AMMS, successfully concluded a landmark four-day hands-on workshop on Drosophila Biology! Facilitated by The Dow Fly Research Lab & Stock Center (DUHS), Pakistan’s first public sector fly lab.

The intensive program trained 40 diverse participants, including students from various local institutes across Karachi and an international student from Haliç University, Turkey. The cohort transitioned from theory to practical research by mastering advanced genetic, behavioral, and molecular techniques.

The training kicked off with an insightful keynote by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Hussain (Director, Fly Research Lab & Principal, Dow College of Biotechnology, DUHS) on the global importance of Drosophila as a vital model organism. Over the four days, participants executed hands-on labs in fly husbandry, genetic cross setups, behavioral and advanced functional assays, and essential molecular techniques.

The successful event wrapped up with a prestigious closing ceremony where shields and certificates were presented to the facilitators and participants by distinguished Chief Guests Prof. Dr. Shakeel Khan (Former Vice Chancellor, Saleem Habib University) and Dr. Aqeel Khan (Former Dean, Department of Biosciences, Saleem Habib University).

At the conclusion, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab (Chairman, Department of Microbiology) and Chief Organizer Prof. Dr. Nusrat Jabeen highlighted the immense value of the Drosophila model in local scientific innovation, extending their profound gratitude to Dr. Mushtaq Hussain and the DUHS team for providing the vital infrastructure, mentorship, and support that made this workshop a resounding success!

The Department of Physiology, University of Karachi, successfully organized its 9th Annual Research Talk (ART) 2026 under the theme “Physiology in the Era of AI" today, bringing together faculty members, researchers and students to showcase research, academic activities, scientific creativity and emerging developments in physiology and healthcare.

The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Muhammad Usman, followed by an insightful keynote session by Dr. Mehreen Lateef, Principal, Bahria University College of Allied Health Sciences, Karachi. She discussed the evolution of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing, highlighting the potential of physiological data for pattern recognition, prediction and early diagnosis, as well as the growing relevance of AI in physiological research and medical education.

The second keynote session was delivered by Dr. Ammara Aftab, Pakistan’s first female certified AI trainer and Founder of Pro AI Global, who conducted an interactive session on artificial intelligence, its practical relevance for students and researchers, AI frameworks, and the opportunities and challenges associated with its growing use in education and professional fields.

The postgraduate research component of the event featured presentations by postgraduate researchers. Dr. Uzma Firdous presented her research titled “Multi-Target Therapeutic Effects of Teucrium stocksianum and Ocimum basilicum in PCOS/ PMOS rat model” focusing on the potential therapeutic effects of medicinal plants in polycystic o***y syndrome. Dr. Falak Sehar Sahito presented her PhD research exploring the progression from normotension to hypertensive heart disease, with particular emphasis on inflammatory markers and cardiovascular changes. Both PhD presenters have contributed to the scientific literature through research published in reputable international journals.

A major component of ART was the undergraduate student scientific exhibition. A total of 149 thematic posters, 60 research posters and 10 scientific models were presented by students from the Department of Physiology and its programmes in Public Health, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Poultry Science, with the majority of contributions coming from the Department of Physiology. Awards were presented for the best thematic poster, best research poster, and best scientific model.

The event provided students with an opportunity to communicate scientific concepts, present research findings, develop scientific and analytical skills and engage with contemporary developments in physiology and technology.

The event concluded with addresses by the Acting Dean, Faculty of Science - Prof. Dr. Nasreen Fatima and the Chairperson, Department of Physiology - Dr. Lubna Naz, followed by appreciation of the participating students, researchers and faculty members and the distribution of awards and certificates. Overall, the 9th ART highlighted the department’s continued commitment to research, innovation, interdisciplinary academic engagement and the integration of artificial intelligence with modern physiological sciences and healthcare.

University of Karachi Holds Seminar on Teaching and Learning in the AI Era

Karachi Physics Society (KPS) in collaboration with the Research & Teaching Society (RTS), organized an insightful seminar on “Rethinking Teaching and Learning in the AI Era.”

The seminar focused on the rapidly changing educational landscape driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI), emerging teaching methodologies, and the impact of AI on students’ learning and academic development.

Prof. Dr. Narmeen Zakaria Bawani highlighted the effective use of AI in education, modern teaching strategies, and the evolving requirements of teaching and learning in the digital age. She also discussed practical approaches for integrating AI into educational practices.

The session emphasized that AI can be used as a powerful educational tool to enhance critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving skills, research capabilities, and personalized learning among students.

The seminar was attended by faculty members and students, who actively participated in discussions on the opportunities and challenges of using AI to transform teaching, learning, and research.
