Karachi School of Art (KSA) was founded back in 1964 by Rabia Zuberi, thus making it the first private academic centre of art in the country and first centre of art education of any kind in the city of Karachi. At the time when the concept of KSA was conceived, there was little know-how regarding art, creativity and innovation in the region. There was lack of awareness among the people about the various opportunities that the creative industry has to offer. Thus KSA is rendered as the pioneer at promoting art education and today takes pride in producing many eminent artists during its history. KSA has made a huge contribution for the country by producing top notch graduates in the field of art and design who have contributed and greatly benefited the creative industry for past 40 years. The inborn talents of various amateur artists were recognized and appreciated here, which consequently secured credible success and fame on national and international levels.

One object from home. One from a book in the library. Put them in one picture.

That was the brief at our workshop with artist Arif Hussain Khokhar. Students at Karachi School of Art started with something ordinary from home, then went looking through library books for its strangest possible partner. Then came the fun part: putting the two into one image, with no rules about how.

We asked students how their families reacted when they chose art. For most of them, it was no surprise at home. Their parents had watched them draw since they were kids. And then there’s the student whose parents still aren’t quite sure what they do.

Choosing Art in Karachi isn’t the fight it used to be. But it still needs some explaining at home.

Karachi School of Art’s Fast-Track Diploma is a special January intake for students who want to start now, not next September. You complete your first year in six months, then join second year in September 2027 with the batch that started this year. Same diploma, same studios, same batch.

Diploma programmes in Fine Arts, Communication Design and Textile Design.

Application deadline: 25 November 2026
Admission test & interview: 27 November 2026

Success deserves to be recognized—and today, we celebrated the outstanding achievements of our Foundation Year’s top three position holders.

Executive Director Imran Zuberi and Academic Coordinator Sehrish Imran hosted our high achievers for a special tea gathering, where their hard work and dedication were honored with a well-deserved 25% scholarship in tuition fees for the remaining term.
