WHY YALE by Nadeem Zaidi
When a you make a list of US universities you are applying to make sure you keep Yale in the list as your dream university. Here are some compelling reasons
1. Yale is one of the top universities in USA
2. Yale accepts foreign applicants of very diverse backgrounds at Undergraduate level
3. Yale has a massive provision for scholarships and financial aid
4. Yale recently announced the largest expansion of the Department of Computer Science in more than 30 years. A $20 million donation will fund new faculty positions, a new 10,000 square foot research space, and the merger of Computer Science with the Yale School of Engineering and Applied Science. Sameer Anees
5. 2 new Residential Colleges are scheduled to open in fall 2017. With the additions, Yale’s undergraduate enrollment will eventually increase from 5,400 to 6,000 students.
6. Yale has 80+ majors, 2000+ courses, 90% of science majors conduct research with faculty, 76% of classes enroll fewer than 20 students, 6:1 overall student faculty ratio, 3:1 student-to-faculty ratio in the sciences, 3 distinct advisers guide each incoming freshman
7. In the class of 2019 1,364 students represent 49 US states & 60 foreign countries
WHAT STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE
1. Predicted Grades: Please always include A level predicted predictions, the School Report. Predicted grades are a a very important part of the evaluation process.
2. The Common Application Counselor Recommendation, Mid-Year Report and Final Report: New to this year’s Common Application is the Counselor Recommendation form, which is a REQUIRED component of Yale application.
3. Final exam results for admitted students: Most international stu-dents are made offers of admission well before Yale sees final exam results. Yale pays very close attention to final transcripts. As a condition of admission Yale expects students to continue to perform ‘at a level comparable to the one presented to the admissions committee.’ Cases of poor final exam results are dealt with on a case-by-case basis and may lead to an offer of admission being rescinded.
