The founder of Hamdard Pakistan, found in 1948, endeavored to establish a university to enliven the intellectual tradition of the educational institutions of the golden era of Muslim civilization. Hakim Said (1920-1998) was a renowned exponent of Eastern Medicine. Having
treated millions of patients around the globe, Hakim Said achieved reputation as a scholar and researcher in medicine. Due to his fifty years of meritorious service, he was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Posthumous) by the Government of Pakistan in 2002. Hakim Mohammad said: “It has been my endeavor to prepare Pakistani youth for the challenges of tomorrow. I would like to see the youth studying at our campuses to develop the qualities of devotion, love, determination and services to mankind.” His endeavor acquired existence when he established Hamdard University in 1991. Hamdard University was a result of long dedicated and continued efforts extended by Hakim Said, a great educational leader.
