JSMU-IPS Celebrates World Pharmacists Day 2026 with Pharma Carnival, Innovation & Student Excellence
The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 with a vibrant Pharma Carnival featuring student-led stalls, E-Poster and Pharma Shark Brand Planning competitions, providing students with an engaging platform to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, creativity, innovation, communication skills and professional potential.
The celebration was organised under the leadership of Principal IPS Professor Dr. Huma Ali, with the guidance of Student Advisor Professor Dr. Kiran Rafiq, with the dedicated support of faculty organisers Vice Principal IPS Dr. Humera Siddiqui, Dr. Fouzia Israr, Dr. Bushra Hina and Dr. Muhammad Suleman Imtiaz. The Pharma Carnival remained open throughout the day, while the competition sessions brought together students presenting innovative pharmaceutical ideas and concepts before a distinguished panel of judges.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal IPS Professor Dr. Huma Ali and Student Advisor Professor Dr. Kiran Rafiq appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students and highlighted that such activities provide future pharmacists with opportunities to move beyond classroom learning and develop confidence, leadership, creativity, teamwork and professional communication. They emphasized that student-led initiatives such as the Pharma Carnival strengthen the academic environment at IPS and encourage students to transform their knowledge into practical and innovative ideas.
The distinguished judging panel included Prof. Dr. Shagufta Usmani, Professor and Principal, Jinnah College of Pharmacy, Sohail University; Khawaja Aoun M. Siddiqui, Group Product Manager, Nabiqasim Industries (Pvt.) Ltd. – N Pharma; Dr. Humera Siddiqui, Associate Professor & HOD Pharmacology, IPS-JSMU; and Dr. Kalpina Kumari, Incharge IHBM-JSMU. The judges evaluated the presentations and appreciated the students for their preparation, creativity, scientific understanding and professional presentation.
PHARMA SHARK BRAND PLANNING COMPETITION
The Pharma Shark Brand Planning Competition challenged students to develop pharmaceutical brand concepts while demonstrating their understanding of product planning, positioning, communication and marketing strategy.

The E-Poster Competition provided students with an opportunity to present research-based and innovative pharmaceutical topics through visually engaging scientific communication.

The competition results were followed by the closing ceremony, where judges shared their observations and words of encouragement. Certificates were presented to the judges, leadership, faculty organisers, student organisers, competition teams and volunteers in recognition of their valuable contributions to the successful celebration.
The event was led by the IPS Student Committee, with Lead Organizers Hamza Qazi, Qirat Haya and Umaima Ashraf coordinating the overall student activities. The organising structure included Team Research, Team Marketing, Team Creative and Team Logistics, whose combined efforts supported the planning, promotion, presentation and ex*****on of the event.
The dedicated student volunteers included Fatima Rajput, Maha Arbab, Muhammad Usman, Hania Faisal, Aiza, Haniya Tahir, Simrah Shaikh, Ayaz Hussain, Rafia Zafar, Alishay Batool, Khanzada Areeb, Ayesha Akhlaq, M. Yousuf Khan, Areeba Sudheer, Ghulam Abbas, Zoha Shahid, Mursaleen Khan, Mustajab Ghaznavi, Hamza Ahmer, Huzaifa Khan, Abubakar Jamshed, Fatima Waseem, Erum Parveen, Noman Laghari, Alishba Shakeel, Dua Zehra, Misbah Fatima, Asad, Rehan, Mounis Naeem and Suleman Irfan.
The successful celebration reflected the strong collaboration between IPS faculty and students and provided a platform for students to demonstrate that pharmacy education extends beyond academic knowledge to innovation, leadership, teamwork, communication and professional development.
