"Why do we Hire you", Empowering Future Pharmacists Beyond the Classroom

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) organized an engaging Student Empowerment Session for its pharmacy students through the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS-JSMU), under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Huma Ali, Principal, IPS-JSMU.

The session on “Professional Presence: Communication, Confidence & Conduct” featured Mr. Muhammad Shaheryar Khan, Assistant General Manager, SAMI Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., as the Guest Speaker. The interactive session focused on communication, confidence, professional conduct, employability skills, CV presentation, and interview preparation.

Through live mock interviews, situational analysis, role-based questioning, and competency-based discussions, students experienced real-world recruitment scenarios and gained valuable insights into what employers look for in prospective pharmacists.

The session was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Shaheen, while Dr. Hina Rehman was appreciated for her initiative, innovative ideas, and effective moderation. The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with industry expectations and strengthen their professional readiness.

JSMU’s Academic Excellence Shines at Hamdard University

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) proudly celebrates the academic achievement of its faculty member, Dr. Bushra Hina, Ph.D. (Pharmacognosy), Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy, Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), JSMU.

Dr. Bushra Hina was invited as a speaker at the session on “Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) for Quality and Safety of Medicinal and Edible Plants for Procurement of Health”, organized by HMI Institute of Pharmacology & Herbal Sciences, Hamdard University.

Leprosy — A Forgotten Disease | An Awareness Session

Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), organized an informative awareness session on “Leprosy — A Forgotten Disease”. The session focused on creating awareness about leprosy, emphasizing early diagnosis, timely treatment, prevention, and the importance of addressing misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease. The event was organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Huma Ali, Principal, IPS-JSMU, who served as the Patron of the session and extended her valuable support towards promoting health awareness among students.

The session was conducted by Mr. Daniel Karamat, Manager Health Education, MPH/MBA and Ms. Sonya Chaudhry, Media Manager from Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre. The discussion provided participants with valuable insights into leprosy and highlighted the role of health education in promoting early recognition and compassionate care. The session was moderated by Dr. Saba Ajaz Baloch, Assistant Professor, IPS-JSMU. Dr. Shaheen Parveen and Dr. Fozia Israr were also present and actively contributed during the session.

As a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Shaheen Parveen and Dr. Fozia Israr presented Certificates of Appreciation to the speakers in recognition of their valuable contribution to the awareness session. The session served as an important reminder that informed communities can replace misconceptions with understanding, fear with knowledge, and stigma with compassion.

JSMU Students Win 3rd Prize at PharmaCon 2026 at ZU

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), proudly celebrates another significant academic achievement as its students secured 3rd Prize at the 1st PharmaCon 2026, "Transforming Knowledge into Therapeutics," organized by the Department of Pharmacology, Ziauddin Medical College (ZMC), Ziauddin University, on 18 July 2026. The recognition reflects the institute's commitment to promoting research excellence and innovation among its students.

The award-winning research, titled "Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices Towards Mpox Vaccination Among Adults in Karachi, Pakistan," was supervised by Dr. Saba Zubair, Dr. Sadaf Naeem, and presented by PharmD students of Final year, Qirat Haya, Umaima Ashraf, Misbah Fatima, Fatima Waseem, Hamza Qazi, Mehak Faisal, and Huzaifa Khan. Their achievement is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and passion for conducting meaningful public health research that addresses emerging healthcare challenges.

IPS-JSMU Empowers Researchers Through Paperpal Academic Writing Workshop

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU), successfully organized a hands-on workshop titled "Mastering Academic Writing with Paperpal" under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Huma Ali, Principal, IPS-JSMU. The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills in AI-powered academic writing, manuscript enhancement, dissertation improvement, document health checks, responsible AI use, and publication readiness.

At the beginning of the session, Prof. Dr. Huma Ali welcomed the participants and introduced the facilitator, Dr. Kaneez Fatima Lecturer at IPS In her opening remarks, she highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in research and academic writing, emphasizing the need for researchers and students to adopt ethical and effective AI tools to enhance the quality of scholarly work.

The interactive session was facilitated by Dr. Kaneez Fatima, who provided hands-on training on using Paperpal for improving manuscripts and dissertations. Participants actively engaged in practical exercises and learned strategies to strengthen their academic writing while ensuring publication readiness and responsible use of AI.

The workshop was organized by the dedicated IPS team, including Mr. Kashan Majeed, Dr. Saba Zubair, and Dr. Rabia Manawwar, Lecturers at IPS-JSMU, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Huma Ali. Their collective efforts ensured the successful planning and ex*****on of the event.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Humera Siddiqui, Vice Principal, IPS-JSMU, appreciated the valuable contribution of Dr. Kaneez Fatima for delivering an informative and engaging session. She also distributed certificates to the participants and members of the organizing team, acknowledging their active participation and commitment to promoting academic excellence through innovative learning initiatives.
