Inquiry into Unauthorized Hidden Camera Incident at Sir Syed University Concludes; Strict Disciplinary Action Taken
KARACHI – The inquiry committee constituted to investigate the unauthorized installation of hidden cameras at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) has completed its investigation following a comprehensive review of the available evidence, relevant facts, and statements of the individuals concerned.
Based on the findings of the inquiry committee, the evidence examined, and the statement provided by the concerned employee, Mr. Muhammad Uzair Hafeez is solely responsible for the unauthorized and unacceptable act. The investigation confirmed that the incident was an individual endeavour, with no evidence indicating the involvement, assistance, or facilitation of any other individual, employee, officer, or institution.
In response to the committee’s findings, the management of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) has taken strict disciplinary action against Mr. Muhammad Uzair Hafeez. He has been dismissed from service with immediate effect.
Additionally, his admission to the Master’s (MS) programme at Sir Syed University has been revoked with immediate effect. Furthermore, Mr. Muhammad Uzair Hafeez has also been prohibited from entering the premises of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology and Aligarh Institute of Technology, Karachi.
The management of SSUET and AIT reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting the privacy, dignity, honour, safety, and rights of students, faculty members, and employees. Both institutions uphold a strict zero-tolerance policy toward any illegal, unethical, unauthorized, or confidentiality-breaching conduct. Any individual found responsible for such actions will be subject to strict disciplinary measures in accordance with institutional policies, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for everyone, without any discrimination.
