"The self-clarification (critical philosophy) of the struggles and wishes of the age. This is a task for the world and for us. It can succeed only as the product of united efforts. What is needed above all is a confession, and nothing more than that. To obtain forgiveness for its sins mankind needs only to declare them for what they are."

Today as we celebrate Eid, we also lay our revolutionary greetings at one of the greatest champions of the proletariat that the world has witnessed, Vladimir Lenin. One who lead the Bolsheviks to seizing power, and form the bastion of revolution in the Soviet Union. Who would link the question of socialist revolution to the end of national oppression. Who stood in stark contrast to the revisionist parliamentary "socialist" trends of the era who spurred on the first world war, showing the need for a radical and militant ideology. Who recognised the need of the peasentary for the revolutionary masses.

Born April 22nd 1870, Comrade Lenin led the Bolsheviks to a revolution that would shake the very foundations of the global capitalist system for years to come and inspire socialist and national liberation movements to this day.

Lenin's theoretical contributions are as important today as they were 100 years ago. His conceptualization of democratic centralism and a vanguard party that learns from the masses is to this day the most efficient form of organizing a revolutionary party. Furthermore, his analysis of imperialism continues to guide those of us in the third world and has been the basis of all frameworks attempting to understand the global capitalist system and the exploitation of the global south.

Lenin's struggle against the opportunist and revisionist trends of his day continue to serve us ideologically against those who distort Marxism. Lenin stood fast in defense of revolution against revisionists such as Bernstein and Kautsky who believed in electoralism and using the capitalist state to implement socialism which Lenin proved was equal to betraying the working class. Lenin stood for the principle of national self-determination and revolutionary defeatism in inter-imperialist wars against the social chauvanists of his time who rejected the theory of imperialism. Lenin stood in defense of the working class seizing state power and waging political struggle against the trend of economism that reduced the struggle to one of short-term economic demands.

Lenin stands vindicated in his theoretical contributions and his ideological struggles and PrSF Karachi stands with and upholds Lenin's legacy as we reaffirm our commitment to revolutionary socialism, anti-revisionism and anti-imperialism.

We remember him with this masterful work by socialist poet Langston Hughes on the impact of Lenin's work

"Lenin walks around the world.
Frontiers cannot bar him.
Neither barracks nor barricades impede.
Nor does barbed wire scar him.

Lenin walks around the world.
Black, brown, and white receive him.
Language is no barrier.
The strangest tongues believe him.

Lenin walks around the world.
The sun sets like a scar.
Between the darkness and the dawn
There rises a red star."
