Media Students' Society, SALU Khairpur Hosts 2nd Study Circle on AI and Critical Thinking.
The Media Students' Society, Department of Media & Communication Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur, organized its 2nd Study Circle on the topic "Is Artificial Intelligence (AI) reducing our ability to think critically?" The event was held at the Media Department and featured two student speakers, Ishaque and Saboor Ali, both from BS I, moderated by Aaqib Ali, also from BS I.
The session was chaired by Madam Maria Isani and co-chaired by Sir Farhan Noonari, faculty members of the department. In their opening remarks, both chairpersons praised the initiative taken by the Media Students' Society and highlighted the significance of AI in today's digital era.
The speakers, Ishaque and Saboor Ali, presented their thoughts on the impact of AI on critical thinking, exploring both the benefits and drawbacks of relying on AI tools. They emphasized the importance of using AI as a supplement, rather than a substitute, for human thinking.
Madam Maria Isani and Sir Farhan Noonari echoed this sentiment, cautioning students against over-reliance on AI tools and encouraging them to use their brains to craft master prompts and seek help from AI tools judiciously.
The event also featured a lively Q/A session, where students engaged with the speakers and moderator, exploring various aspects of AI and its impact on critical thinking.
The 2nd Study Circle was a resounding success, providing a platform for students to engage with complex issues and fostering a healthy and fruitful discussion on the role of AI in shaping our thinking habits.
