"TECHNICAL SESSION ON INDUS WATER MANAGEMENT"

Khairpur, March 18, 2025 – The Department of Civil Engineering, in collaboration with the ICE Student Chapter, Mehran UET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mir’s, successfully organized a Technical Session on Indus Water Management at the SIREN Room, Mehran UET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mir’s, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The session featured Prof. Dr. Manthar Ali Keerio (BBSUTSD Khairpur) and Dr. Noor Hussain Chandio (SALU Khairpur) as resource persons. Dr. Noor Hussain Chandio joined the session online and Dr. Manthar Ali Keerio delivered an insightful presentation on the Indus water system in Pakistan and Sindh, highlighting its significance, challenges, and management strategies.

The session was attended by faculty members of the Civil Engineering Department, including Dr. Dildar Ali Mangnejo, Dr. Hemu Karira, and Dr. Abdul Qayoom Memon, who actively engaged in discussions, adding valuable perspectives to the session.

This session was arranged under the supervision of Faculty Advisor ICE and Chairman department of civil engineering, Dr. Sajjad Ali Mangi, whose guidance played a crucial role in organizing this informative event.

As a token of appreciation, shields were presented to the resource persons, and certificates were awarded to the attendees. The session concluded with a note of thanks from the organizing committee, emphasizing the importance of such knowledge-sharing initiatives for future civil engineers.

A field visit to the Sukkur Barrage Project, endorsed by Prof. Dr. Dur Muhammad Pathan (Pro-Vice Chancellor) and Dr. Sajjad Ali Mangi, Chairman of Civil Engineering Department, Mehran UET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mirs', provided students with a unique learning opportunity. Departmental orientation for the K24CE Batch was held on Monday 26th August 2024 at the Department of Civil Engineering MUET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mir's.

The orientation session was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mir Asad Raza Talpur. Next, the worthy Chairman of Civil Engineering Department Dr. Sajjad Ali Mangi delivered the orientation presentation and introduced the Faculty members of the Department.

After presentation, Dr. Dildar Ali Mangnejo, Engr. Touqeer Ali Rind, Engr. Subash Kumar, Wazeer Hussain Otho and other faculty members introduced students to different Laboratories of the department and other facilities.

The Faculty Members were also present during the orientation.

Final Year Project Committee (FYPC) of Civil Engineering Department, MUET SZAB Campus Khairpur Mir’s has arranged the Final Year Project-I (FYP-I) Initial Seminar Presentations of K20CE batch students.
The Viva-Voce was conducted by External Examiner Prof. Dr. Manthar Ali Keerio, Dean Faculty of Engineering Technology and Chairman Department of Civil Engineering Technology, BBSUTSD Khairpur and Associate Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mangi, Chairman Civil Engineering Department MUET SZAB Campus Khairpur. The External Examiner appreciated the efforts of Students and Faculty members on conducting research in the innovative directions which could contribute to the new knowledge and contribute to the society, industry and economy of the country.
Dr. Javeria Shaikh, Dean Aror University Sukkur also attended the FYP Seminar as a co-supervisor. During the presentations the Faculty members of the Civil Department were also present and given valuable suggestions.
