Department of Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is the process of directing and controlling natural resources for the use and benefit of human kind through construction of various structures. It applies engineering practices to the planning design, construction and operation and maintenance of structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, railways, factories, airports, irrigations schemes, docks
, harbors, sea defenses, flood control systems, water supply, sewerage disposal, etc. thus civil engineering is probably the largest and broadest discipline of engineering fields. The department of Civil Engineering provides engineering education according to the requirements of specialization is also introduced in the final year in designing and completing the projects, which may be specific to a particular branch of civil engineering. The department teaches many courses relevant to the vast field of civil engineering including Applied Mechanics, surveying, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics, Irrigation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, engineering Construction, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering and other related subjects. Theory classes of different subjects are complemented by facilities with equipment have been establishment. In addition, the students are taken to many sites such as water distribution structures and irrigation systems, drainage schemes, road construction works, etc., to expose them to a particular work being actually implemented. During the summer vacations the students are also sent on various projects for internship.
