Today was the turn of the long case presentation. Dr Hasnain Azhar Shah was instructed to take the history and perform the examination of a middle-aged patient with a 22-pack-year smoking history, admitted in Medical Unit-II with complaints of worsening of shortness of breath, productive cough, hemoptysis, and right-sided chest pain for the last seven days.

He took the history thoroughly and examined the patient in detail. During examination, he pointed out positive findings confined to the right lower chest, including dullness on percussion, increased vocal resonance, bronchial air entry, and crepitations.

On the basis of history and clinical findings, he formulated the differential diagnoses of Pneumonia, acute exacerbation of COPD, Pulmonary infarction, Pulmonary tuberculosis, Carcinoma of lung, and lung abscess.

He confidently defended the case during the viva voce conducted by Dr Abdul Hayee Phulpoto, Associate Professor Medicine, and Dr Abdul Raheem Tunio, Senior Registrar Medicine. Questions were asked regarding differential diagnosis, investigations, and management of the case.

All participants appreciated the efforts of Dr Hasnain Azhar Shah for his excellent performance and wished him success in the future.

Today, a combined clinical class of postgraduate residents, House Officers, and final year MBBS students was arranged in the Department of Medicine. During the session, examination of the chest was discussed in detail and demonstrated practically by the final year MBBS students and postgraduate residents.

The session remained highly interactive, and most of the students actively participated by performing chest examination under supervision. Minor mistakes noted during the examination were corrected and explained on the spot, which greatly enhanced the learning experience of the students.

The class was supervised by Prof. Dr Kirpal Das Makheja, Head of Medicine Department, Dr Abdul Hayee Phulpoto, Associate Professor Medicine, and Dr Abdul Raheem Tunio, Senior Registrar Medicine, who guided the students and contributed valuable clinical teaching points throughout the session.

Today, on the special request of final year MBBS students, a group teaching session was conducted on Abdominal Examination and Chest X-ray interpretation.

The session was very interactive, and all students actively participated in the examination and discussion.
During the session, the students were taught the proper method of abdominal examination, including inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation. Important clinical findings and their significance were discussed in detail.

The students also practiced abdominal examination under supervision to improve their clinical skills and confidence.

In addition, the basics of Chest X-ray interpretation were taught. The students were guided regarding systematic interpretation of X-rays and identification of common findings seen in clinical practice.

The session remained highly engaging and informative, and the students showed keen interest throughout the class. The teaching session proved very beneficial for improving their clinical examination skills and diagnostic approach.

The class was conducted by Dr Abdul Hayee Phulpoto, Associate Professor of Medicine, along with Dr Bakhtawar, Senior PGR.
