The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar team led by Director USPCASE, Prof Dr Farid Khan had a productive meeting with representatives of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) to discuss the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in the fields of energy efficiency, conservation, research, and capacity building.

The meeting brought together senior officials and technical experts from both organizations to explore opportunities for joint initiatives that will promote sustainable energy practices, strengthen academic-industry linkages, and contribute to Pakistan's national energy efficiency objectives.

During the discussion, both sides emphasized the importance of leveraging UET Peshawar's academic and research expertise alongside NEECA's mandate in energy efficiency and conservation to develop innovative solutions, conduct collaborative research, organize training programs, and support policy and technology development.

The proposed MoU is expected to provide a formal framework for cooperation in key areas, including joint research projects, student and faculty engagement, technical training, knowledge sharing, awareness campaigns, and the promotion of energy-efficient technologies and practices.

The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, organized a memorable farewell ceremony in honor of the graduating Batch of 2022–2026. The event celebrated the academic achievements of the graduating students and marked the beginning of their professional journeys.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Farid Khan, Director, USPCAS-E, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Prof. Dr. Farid Khan congratulated the graduating students on successfully completing their academic journey and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, innovation, and integrity in their future careers. He urged the graduates to apply their knowledge and skills toward addressing the country's energy challenges and contributing to sustainable development.

Under the guidance of the Director, USPCAS-E at UET Peshawar arranged an industrial visit to Saif Textile Mills Limited, Gadoon, for BSc Energy Engineering students. The visit gave students practical exposure to industrial power systems, energy management, and sustainable engineering practices. This initiative successfully connects classroom learning with real-world operations to prepare students for the industry.

Engr. Zafar Ullah Khan successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on June 18, 2026, under the supervision of Dr. Adnan Daud Khan, Associate Professor at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E), UET Peshawar.His dissertation, titled "Reliability and Degradation Analysis of Solar Photovoltaic Modules in Pakistan," was presented in a public seminar, followed by a viva-voce examination conducted by the Examination Committee.
The Research Evaluation Committee comprised Dr. Adnan Daud Khan (Associate Professor, USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar), Prof. Dr. Farid Ullah Khan (Director USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar), Dr. Anees Ur Rehman (Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Sarhad University, Peshawar), Dr. Kaleem Ullah (USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar), and Dr. Abdul Basit (Manager, NTDC Islamabad). Engr. Zafar Ullah Khan has published two research papers from his dissertation, both in HEC HJRS “W” category journals. In addition to this accomplishment, Engr. Zafar Ullah Khan is a faculty member in the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering at USPCAS-E, UET Peshawar. Prof. Dr. Rizwan M. Gul, Dean of FMCIE, also attended the event and extended his congratulations to Engr. Zafar Ullah Khan on his successful PhD defense.

An Open House and Final Year Project Exhibition was held on June 11, 2026, at USPCAS-E, bringing together a diverse group of participants, including industry professionals, government officials, researchers, faculty members, and students.

The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor of UET Peshawar; Prof. Dr. Amjad Khattak; Fazli Muqeem, Director of KPEZDMC; Naji Ullah Khattak, CEO of One Life Solar & Electric Solutions; and Engr. Saleem Barg, CEO of Berg Energy Consultants.

As part of the Career Fair, seven organizations participated to offer internship and employment opportunities to students, including SRSP, P**O, KPEZDMC, One Life Solar & Electric Solutions, Berg Energy Consultants, AGES Consultants, and Nayatel.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Dr. Farid Khan, Director of USPCAS-E, highlighted the Center's role as a leading think tank for energy-related matters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration among industry, academia, and government. He also commended the organizing team, applauded the students for their innovative Final Year Projects (FYPs), and acknowledged the valuable contributions of their supervisors.

On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to embrace the challenges of the modern world. He advised them to leverage their FYPs as platforms for both employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures. Mr. Fazli Muqeem, in his address, appreciated the Center’s efforts in fostering meaningful linkages between academia and industry.

During an informal stakeholder meeting led by the Director of USPCAS-E, industry representatives shared their experiences, expectations, and emerging needs. The discussions concluded with a collective commitment to further strengthen collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Student projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges and examiners, including Engr. Umer Pervez (Director Renewables, P**O), Engr. Behlol Ahmad (SRSP), Dr. Haider Ali (Associate Professor, University of Technology Nowshera) and Dr. Wahad ur Rehman (PCSIR Peshawar) . In the exhibition, the outstanding projects were recognized with Best Project Awards across multiple categories.

The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy, in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Embassy of Denmark in Pakistan, organized a hands-on workshop titled “Energy & Climate Modeling through Low Emission Analysis Platform (LEAP)” on 21 May 2026. Students, researchers, and faculty members actively participated in the workshop and appreciated the practical exposure to modern energy and climate modeling tools.

On the occasion, Dr Farid Khan, Director USPCASE, thanked the SDPI team led by Engr Ubaid Ur Rehman for conducting the workshop at University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar. He emphasized the importance of organizing such workshops to help address the country’s energy and climate challenges.

He also appreciated the efforts of the UET organizing team, including Dr Adnan Daud, Engr Saad, Naif, Kamran, and the student volunteers of the Association of Energy Engineers Student Chapter UET Peshawar for their active role in successfully organizing and managing the event.

The U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy successfully organized an insightful seminar on Additive Manufacturing on 20th May 2026. The seminar was conducted by experts from Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) Peshawar, who shared valuable knowledge on the latest developments, applications, and future prospects of additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies.

Faculty members, researchers, and students from various departments actively participated in the seminar and engaged in productive discussions regarding the role of advanced manufacturing technologies in industrial innovation and engineering education.

The event was organized with the support of the Association of Energy Engineers UET Peshawar Student Chapter (AEE), whose student volunteers assisted in the coordination and management of the seminar activities.
